I give this a 4 because I'm really easy too please when it comes to books. I don't like giving bad reviews and always looking at the good/bright side but... I---

I do have to say, everything was so cramped up and it lost a couple points. I love the characters, but they just literally fixed everything in an instant. That was 6 years lost, 5 years and a half of the child. Where was the fucking letter?! That was the most annoying thing.

I hope it wasn't too sped up and they had to work for something-not dating after knowing you have a child and forgiving each other immediately.

ALSO, WHY IN THE HELL WOULD A CHILD HAVE A BOYFRIEND?
I get the whole, "show the world who you are and be confident in it". I'm gay ffs. Let the child be a child and let them express themselves. But a child being in a relationship??

Yes, some children do say , "I have boyfriend" or "I have a girlfriend" but I don't think they act like 13 year-olds in love. It would feel comfortable if they were supportive of him and then a time skip where he's in a relationship probably 10 or 12 years after--when he's in high school or something.

dnf at 53%. i tried. love the trope but this one wasn’t for me. very wattpad-ish in the worst way possible. the things alec would say to her were just cringe and he literally called her a whore??? he punched a guy she was dancing with?? even tho they were not dating??? nah. there was no character building so i couldn’t get attached to them :/ it wasn’t the worst thing ever but definitely not good.
challenging emotional inspiring sad slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

This book has a compelling setup and some genuinely heartfelt moments, but it feels uneven at times. I enjoyed certain parts and elements, but others prevented it from being fully satisfying.

A lot happens quickly in this book, and some of the emotional shifts hit suddenly instead of flowing naturally. It sometimes seemed like scenes and revelations competed for space, which diminishes the depth it could have had.

I also found the timeline confusing. Why is an NHL player from another team in town for so long? I know it was a hometown game, but it seemed like he was there for weeks. I understand it was necessary to build the story, but I struggled with it.

Despite the flaws, there are moments where the book truly shines. When Laura and Alec are vulnerable and the stakes feel personal, the story pulls you in.

Find Me in the Rain is an enjoyable read if you're willing to overlook some of the unevenness. It has a strong central idea and some touching scenes, but the execution doesn’t always match the promise, which keeps it from rising above three stars.

i’m sorry but no. the main characters are just so immature. i just couldn’t imagine anyone acting the way that the two mc’s were acting

wattpad 2013

DNF
This was horrible. mmc left the fmc but there's no groveling? as if they're both ok from the start? plus fmc is very irresponsible as a 'single' mom. all of their choices just do not make sense and there's no character development.

3/5⭐️

it was a nice read but 80% mark conflict was handled awfully :/

Firstly, I read this books after Unravel me by Becka Mack, because it was just perfectly balanced with the step father trope. Don’t read this, read that book.
Okay now to this book, the first 3rd of the book, literally nothing, and I mean NOTHING happened. I could have told you that by the summary in goodreads.
He just talks about how much he still loves her and she is drowning in bills(only stated, not actually shown, as they have a huge wardrobe of endless clothes) and raising a child(his child that he didn’t know existed for five whole years).
She was dumb enough to tell him in a LETTER that she was pregnant which he ignored, and he never knew she was. Then, also if he loved her as much as he claimed, PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHYYYY, DID HE NOT ASK HER WHY THEY BROKEN UP. The reason for the break up was in the letter, which HE DIDN’T READ.
Also I get that the fact that their son has a boyfriend and that they are protective and stuff, but is all the repetition really necessary? Also he is 5-YEARS-OLD.
The writing is pretty middle school too, looks like she has no idea how moody and difficult real kids are, and the extra hockey detail honestly bored me to death. The friendships between the teammates were so bland, I can’t remember I single other name other than Cameron (only because he was used to make him jealous).

DID NOT FINISH: 84%

Read 25% as an ebook and then switched to audio to try and make it better. Got to the point where I was going to just finish it for the sake of it… but then the dreaded third act break up started looming over the horizon and I couldn’t do it. Not when the book wasn’t that good to begin with.
