One of the few once off novels by Elly Griffiths.  A number of magicians are murdered in a "magic act gone wrong" type of way.  Everything appears to be connected to a WWII intelligence operation wherein said magicians partook.  A well-written era whodunnit, but it lacks breadcrumbs 3.5/5

Not great, but not awful. The characters in this book seemed a little forced compared to others in books by this Author. I really didn't connect with either of them, and probably won't read any more in this series.

A solid mystery. I might read more in the series.

"Max had told him in Eastbourne, 'The thing about The Zig Zag girl is that it's a trick that depends on the girl'...
Maybe the flower-buyer and the sword-purchaser were really two different people? There was still the problem of motive though. Try as his might, Edgar couldn't unearth one reason why anyone should want to kill a retired show-girl, a comedian and a housewife. They were linked, albeit tenuously, but the Magic Men."
