Great book for Rush and rock fans. I especially enjoyed parts of his growing up and early days of the band. Geddy is very upfront about the trade-off of band versus family.
A special part of this book is a lengthy part of his parent's experience in the Holocaust. Extremely well written.
I love finding out how the nickname Geddy came about.
My only disappointment in the book was little description about how the music developed. You get a feeling that Geddy was much more about musicianship and being a touring musician than a songwriter.

I'm not much of a memoir/auto-biography kind of guy. But I'm a HUGE Rush guy, and Geddy really put some thought into how to assemble this. It comes with a kind of necessary soundtrack, constantly mentioning both songs that influenced Rush and also the thought process behind nearly every song in Rush's discography. It doesn't shy away from his issues or that of the band: drug use, miscommunications, aging, issues with their love lives. But in that honesty is an undercurrent of being some of the kindest and most genuine rock-stars out there, and I found it informative and endearing.
I don’t know how I stumbled on this book, but some algorithm had it pop in front of me and I loved the heck of this book.
I grew up in a time where Rush was not cool and not even ironically. This book made me reevaluate them and even listen through a few albums. I am not a Rush fan, but I am a fan of Geddy Lee. He seems like the real deal and his media tour, this book and interviews seem to show him as an earnest man. I highly recommend this book!

Insightful and poignant story of one of the most profound but overrated bands of the 70s and 80s.
I appreciate the fact that Lee gives respect to his bandmates into the people in his life who inspired him to go into music. This is one of the most selfless books I have read written by someone in show Business.

This was everything I hoped it would be and more. The chapter he writes about his parents during the Holocaust should be read by everyone. I enjoyed this on audio.
Geddy has penned a superb, compelling, poignant, personal, and reflective book.
I have never enjoyed reading a memoir as much as My Effin' Life. I'll reread it again soon.
