The Twisted Sisters are at it again! Wow…this book…I was hooked from the first chapter and it had me in an emotional chokehold the entire time. I was totally here for it from start to finish. The ending ripped my heart out and set it on fire and put it through a wood chipper. I was RIVETED and now I need to come down from it all, let it soak in. I was captivated by Vesper’s and Everest’s stories, and I gotta say, Everest’s storyline at the end… ugh Twisted Sisters…what the heck, man?! Anyway, my second 5 ⭐️ read of my very behind reading year 2025.

I am not going to lie if the ending didn’t get me hooked this would’ve been a two star read for me. Also, if this hadn’t been a traveling book, my Book Group and I are doing I would have DNF this multiple times. These authors used to be one of my absolute favorites, but the amount of extra crap they put into the books now makes me not want to read their books anymore half of this could’ve been in another book or just not in the book. There is no reason for these books to be this long. I think it’s fantastic that they are so loyal to their narrators, but for the love of all that is holy, please use a different narrator for your different series especially if they’re all in the same universe. I love these narrators, but I can’t keep reading books set in the same universe with the same voices.  like all I can think about reading This is the characters they play in za. They either need to get different narrators or the narrators need to use different voices. The voices are just way too similar to zodiac Academy. I had to remind myself numerous times that I wasn’t reading that serious. This was a different series. I really am not sure if I’ll continue this series even with how amped up the ending was. Usually, I go through a book in about two days. This took me literally months to read because it kept actively putting me in a book slump.

The reviews were mostly 4 stars, I could not make it past the second chapter. It struck me as a bit too much like Lord of the Flies, meets The Cruel Prince, and i did not care for either of those books so it is a hard DNF for me. Might be good for a younger reader?

I loved this book. There is so much tension and the magic is fantastic. Especially when we have the base of Zodiac Academy. You don't have to read as much world building and get to dive right into plot.

My rating: 4.5/5 (round up for the sake of GoodReads!)
I would definitely recommend this series!

- lovers of Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti (The Twisted Sisters)
