I don’t really know how to describe this book, while it was quite a captivating read, it was definitely longer than necessary and there were whole unnecessary chapters that probably could’ve been cut.
I really liked the structure of I Killed Zoe Spanos, with multiple perspectives and time jumps, and I always enjoy an unreliable narrator, however I think that Anna was almost too unreliable to the point that even at the end some of the memories shown earlier in the book didn’t add up or make sense.
I think the ending was just too rushed/ not thought out properly, because lots of the main plot points just didn’t fit as well together in the end as the author wanted them too.
In particular, the Zoe-Starr connection is too far fetched and doesn’t work well at all, pretty sloppy for an ending in my opinion.
Overall it was an enjoyable and easy read but the last 80 pages were a let down.

For fans of Sadie or Good Girl's Guide to Murder - another book featuring a great audio production cast, 2 time periods, and a podcast within the narrative. Frick describes this as "Rebecca in the Hamptons" and I'd say that's pretty accurate! The audio was super well done and it was a good escapist read with some layers, and not as gritty/emotionally wrenching as Sadie.
It was going to have to do a lot of work to pull back from a pretty underwhelming book, but mysterious forgotten memories from a time when kids are too young to really form memories was not it.
medium-paced
I really enjoyed this book! It’s a great mystery book, perfect for fans of a good girls guide to murder
3 stars. This was an enjoyable YA thriller! I liked the format of (limited) POV switches and time jumps to set the scene and lay out the case; it was done very cleanly despite this style being more of a handicap IMO in other books. Interspersed between some chapters are podcast transcripts, which I also liked!
Overall I felt this was a well-done and creative thriller - YA thrillers can be so hit-or-miss - but the conclusion left me wanting more. I felt like we didn't get satisfactory explanations for. A more satisfying ending would've compelled me to give this 4 stars; oh well!

Anna's memory issues or Paisley's negative emotions towards Windermere and Max Adler (though the latter is probably just because he's a douchebag lmao)The writing style is a bit too descriptive and dreamy for me. I can't fully enjoy books with writing style that i dislike.
For the plot itself, stupid old me can guess about the Starr correlation (I guessed wrong though, I thought Starr is Zoe) so that wasn't packed too neatly i guess. the 'do you even care' text to Starr gave it away for me for some reason.
It's so hard to read the Now part because of the writing style. and even though i was hooked since Anna met the boy, it was so hard to read the first half.
But i was hooked with the whole thing, and i found myself can't putting it down. I brought it to qonstanta, and I read until late at night. It was the perfect book to put me out of my reading slump!
