Ruby Dixon is not getting into heaven.

She refers to a newborn infant's genitals with the same descriptors and vocabulary as she does adult genitals during sex scenes.
Rukh mentions looking at his newborn son's 'cock' and seeing it also has a 'spur'
She makes circumcision jokes. She yet again has characters consider themselves failures for their bodies being unable to support a pregnancy. Also the offensive plot of soft human girl being taken by the 'savage barbarian' who she eventually makes civilized is... so awful.

It is not worth commenting on other aspects of the plot as the stuff above is reason enough to NEVER bother with this.

I’m relieved the author didn’t make me wait to find out what happened to Harlow after she was bonked on the head when we last saw her in Barbarian Lover. I’m also relieved that I absolutely adore Rukh. This story brought back that total lack of a shared language the author did so well in the first book. The innocence that comes from having to break language down to simple usage.

Rukh’s story is sad and he doesn’t even realize that fact. He has been on his own for far too long from far too young of an age. While Harlow is, understandably, scared when she first realizes what is happening to her, she quickly sees to the heart of Rukh and knows he means her no harm. In fact, he’s very naïve regarding relationships and doesn’t understand what is happening between him and Harlow. Therefore, he’s more patient when it comes to giving in to what the resonance wants. He’s happy with heavy petting and cuddling, not knowing there is more to be experienced.

Watching Harlow and Rukh navigate their way to a healthy and happy relationship was beautiful. Yet things don’t end there, things can’t be perfect forever. When that happens the true depth of the feelings between the couple becomes apparent and both characters have the chance to grow even more.

This story was very sweet while also having a ton of heat and humor.

Rukh has been the most interesting Barbarian so far. His backstory is cool.
i found harlow’s brain cancer to be a bit triggering tho, and i’m not a fan of the fact that she had to get pregnant to aid her khui to heal it. and then her khui struggled anyway?? super familiar to see a cancer survivor blame themselves for cancer renewal so… idk rubs me off the wrong way
