I read this book over a decade ago when I was a child, but back then it was a whimsical tale about a little prince with a not so happy ending. As the years went by, I did the one mistake the little prince warned me about , and that is forget.
As I was studying for my driver’s permit I got to a specific sign and thought about how it looked like a funky snake , which led me to remember a snake eating an elephant .
Reading the book as a “ grown up” was a whole different experience and it only made me realize how deep this book actually is and how sad it truly is.
I hope to never forget , because that little girl would be disappointed if I ever did.
