Pretty entertaining holiday read. the concept of a novel within a novel is interesting; the overall book is just two whodunits...which is fun to read!

This was a good stand alone book. A murder mystery in a murder mystery. I loved that it had a lot of references to some of my favorite mystery characters Sherlock Poirot Marple etc and the hidden puzzles. The only thing is he stemmed to drag it out at times.

I just could not get into this book. I'm not sure if it was the multiple povs, the utter lack of actual mystery, or the short chapters but this took me several months to even get here. I'm not torturing myself by trying to finish when I don't care. Hope they figure out who killed the maid and the rich dude but who gives af.

Well. This is one hell of a book. What I liked about it: it made me think about the whole idea that some writers write because they want to sell, to get published and sometimes they don't even like their own books. I also really liked the ending, it was very satisfactory. Except the fact that Susan was stupidly dumb in the office but I suppose it can happen.
What I didn't like: Horowitz sure likes to talk. This book feels so long and essentially not that much happens but I do admit you get to know and care about the characters. It sucks you in. I also felt like we got the closure to the "real" murder way too close to the "fictional" murder. At that point of the book I didn't much care for the fictional murder(er). The story within was really nice though and felt very Christie-like. Susan's story was also interesting, I just didn't like the exaggeration in the beginning where she says her life got ruined and everything. It didn't. She had her partner and a new job. Everything worked out. Perhaps I was expecting her to accuse Andreas and drive him away. But that would make an even longer book and honestly just no XD I'm really interested in the second book and I have it so I might get to it soon.. But yeah. Overall great story, easy to follow, satisfactory, well written, just a bit wordy.

It was good! Enjoyable and not predictable but kind of slow at times. Still, I liked it enough to keep reading and this girl was not a short read so that says something
