What the deuce did I just read?

Here, I'll tell you:

Several sex scenes that were barely veiled assault, degradation, humiliation, insta-love and POORLY executed, if not a complete LACK of research.

"Bad Ass" heroine who is, in fact, an idiot. She lets "Blade" tell her several times that he's going to keep her as a slave/'ole lady' while he screws whoever, and if he decides to screw someone else IN FRONT of her, she'd better not complain. The few times she does get mad, he tells her "tough shit, get over it" and she goes back to gushing over him.

Other episodes of her "badass"ness include stabbing a cognitively developed prospect, potentially (still not sure) trapping her abuser with a pregnancy, and shoplifting because she needed a nest egg... of clothes?

Little things pissed me off like how Eve had never been in a car before (cmon seriously??) but then she'd always loved the new car smell, and she'd been driving since she was 13. Also, for some reason, the EMTs wore scrubs? Yeah, no.

It took me three days to slog through this and I really wish I would have DNF'd because I'll never get that time back damn it.

MC Romance for the Win!

This book was centered around Eve and Blade (Jason). Jason takes Eve as his property because her brother, Benny stole money from him. They previously when Eve was 16 and they had a connection. Now, Jason has her and makes it clear that she is his old lady and that she will not be going anywhere.

This book had me laughing a lot and emotional. Eve is a sneaky little thing and Jason just lets her get away with things sometimes with a smile. Their romance was interesting to read/listen (I listened through Audible). I loved every min of this book and would highly recommend you check it out.

This book was very disappointing. But I guess I shouldn’t have expected much from an author I’ve never read before.

Decided to check this book out because the Disciples make a cameo in the Dark & Dirty Sinners’ MC.

Idk if this book is the authors first but the characters felt very underdeveloped. And there was nothing heartwarming about Blade and Eve’s relationship. He literally threatens to sell her just because she has some self respect. Like he actually takes her to a pimp and asks him what her price would be…

Blade has the emotional intelligence of a toddler and nothing about how treated Eve was fun to read. Started to skim towards the end just to see to finish it.

The ethnic slurs got to me who still uses this word? Even if this book was written in 2019. Then the dialogue,...just no.
What EMT who is trying to save this man's life is going to look at the chick and say.."your his wife right? I mean this guy is the real deal." WHO SAYS THIS WHILE TRYING TO SAVE SOMEONE'S LIFE??? NOBODY, then her answer.."It's fine. Fix him." WHAT???? What kind of answer is this? < / spoiler> I was constantly taken out of the story with dialogue like this.

Dunno really. Gonna give this some stars when i get to book 2... but don't spoil the book with reading anything about tropes.

Still puzzled, feels raw in writing, feels raw with feelings and most of all it doesn't care what everyone thinks with use of words or even standards. So yeah... need book 2 to get my thoughts in order.

I wanted to love this book and read the whole series because this is a trope/ genre that I love. But the writing was so juvenile and choppy. I felt zero connection to the characters. The dialogue was stilted and unemotional. I was disappointed because I loved Power by the same author and hoped her other books were as good.

I didn’t hate it but I did not enjoy Eve. I was also really creeped out by Blade at some points. I know the main premise of biker romances includes alpha males, who treat women as objects, and women who want nothing more than to please a man. But I want that thought process and behavior to stop when the MC falls for the FC. And I didn’t feel like that happened here.
