Audiobook Review⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you to @netgalley and the author @jennylhowe for the #gifted audiobook.
I absolutely adored this audiobook! Billie Bryant’s narration was phenomenal, adding an extra layer of charm and energy to an already delightful story. Her voice brought the characters to life in such a vivid way, making it easy to immerse myself in the humor, heart, and romance of the book.
The story features a plus-sized heroine who completely stole the show for me. She’s smart, sassy, and unapologetically funny, making her a relatable and refreshing lead. Her confidence and wit shine throughout the book, and it was such a joy to root for her on her dating journey.
The structure of the story—ten dates to get a life—was both hilarious and heartfelt. I loved the throwback to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and the creative twist made it stand out as unique in its own right. The dates themselves were a perfect mix of chaos and charm. The dating fails were laugh-out-loud funny and full of awkward moments that had me cringing in the best way. But those moments also made the successful dates feel so much more meaningful and rewarding.
This book is the perfect blend of humor, romance, and self-discovery, with a heroine you can’t help but love. If you’re looking for a lighthearted, feel-good romance with lots of laughs and a dash of nostalgia, this is a must-read—or rather, a must-listen! Highly recommend!

It is definitely giving the 90s rom com vibes, and I did enjoy the read. However, I feel like the "foil" love interest really wasn't given enough depth. I also think that the way the relationship with the FLI ended was blah. Still an enjoyably quick read though!

I'm amazed how much I loved this book! I'm really excited to see what else Jenny L Howe puts out because the improvement from her debut, The Make Up Test to this.... INCREDIBLE!
It was sweet and funny with the perfect level of cheese. I think she did such a great job capturing both the experiences of adult dating in the 21st century as well as the experience of dating in a fat body. I laughed I felt emotional, and swooned at the tender parts.
This is how you do a love triangle!
There are only a few frustrations for me keeping it out of the five star favorite class. The first one is the exaggerated pressure the main character's family puts on her to date and be partnered. It reads unrealistic and annoying. For adults to think a 25 year old, perpetually single woman wanting to take a 6 month hiatus from the dating apps is the fast track to old maid... get a grip. Also who cares if you have a plus one to your sister's engagement party.... The other complaint I had was related to the primary characters' general anxiety representation. I think she did an excellent job capturing the headspace these characters could be in and illustrating how it impacts relationships. (She also presents different preferences for treating anxiety which is wonderful. but also bro... take the pills.) However as someone with anxiety... I think she did too well. It hit very close to home and I was getting anxious about their unhealthy communication that simultaneously fed into their specific neurosis. So like good job, but also what gives you the right?

A cute, funny read with a fat positive lead, supportive and amazing side characters, and lgbtq+ representation.
In the beginning, I was hesitant on liking Haleigh, as she seems slightly immature, but she definitely grows as the story goes, and she eventually starts to "grow up" and attempts to get her life in order. I loved Jack from the beginning but grew skeptical of him after learning about his reaction in Hawaii, which led to the two leads making a list of rules in order to maintain their friendship. I won't lie as much as I love the two main characters. I really fell in love with Brian in this love triangle and would love to see him get a story of some kind.
As someone who suffers from anxiety herself, I think the author realistically shows how anxiety can really drag you down, cause mental havoc, and create a domino effect on life (i.e., Jack in Hawaii or Haleigh constantly comparing herself to her sister and friends).
This is a first from Howe for me, and I now know she also wrote On the Plus Side, which has been on my list of romances to read, so I will eventually make my way back to reading it and look forward to other books she writes in the future.
