I found the female main character insufferable. I don’t know if I’ve ever disliked a character more. Her internal dialogue was void of self-awareness. This was truly a painful read.

A fun romcom read with great characters, the extra depth with plots and characterization that I love in a romance, and a welcome blend of humor, self-growth, and romance.

Thank you SMP and MacMillan audio for review copies, ebook and audio. I loved the audio narration that made Howe's charming romcom come to life! I read and listened to this book, both formats are great (though I have a soft spot for romance books on audio!). I loved the inclusive themes in the book, that there was body inclusivity, examination of mental health, and dates that didn't focus on labeling sexuality as much as they were about finding a match. There was a lot of well developed details for the characters and plot that worked well without making a light hearted read "heavy"; Howe has a deft touch when it comes to balancing interesting, relatable, and well crafted characters with a plot that is engaging, charming, and fun.

This is my second book by Jenny Howe and I truly love her characters, plots, and avoidance of the typical third-act-breakups!

Read if you like:
❤️ Friends to Lovers
❤️ Honest Characters without extra drama
❤️ Dating Challenge
❤️ Pop Culture References
❤️ Lovable Characters
❤️ Body Positivity

Summary:
Haleigh is fed up with dating. To prove it’s hard to find the one, she challenges her friends and families to set her up on Ten Dates. The hilarity of some of these dates, and her honestly trying, makes the book so lovable. She does end up meeting the perfect guy, but she has one more date and it’s a surprise set-up.

Would absolutely recommend this one!

Book has a plus sized main character which is a plus in my book. Great story telling and representation for the win!

How to Get a Life in 10 Dates is funny and heartfelt. Haleigh’s chaotic blind dates had me laughing, but it’s her slow-burn friends-to-lovers journey with bff Jack that really hooked me. The tension, the banter, and the vulnerability between them were just so good.

That said sometimes parts of the story didn't hold my attention and I found myself zoning out at times. I also wish Jack and Haleigh’s history had been revealed earlier. It might have made their dynamic even more compelling.

Still, this was a fun read! If you’re into friends-to-lovers, laugh-out-loud moments, and layered characters, give this one a try!

I found the FML a bit annoying, not enough to stop reading. She is immature and kind of self-centered in deprecated way. The writing was witty but I couldn’t connect to any of the characters.
