An amazing read honestly. It was great to see a more impulsive protagonist in this genre and pick out the pieces. It was a little triggering on manipulation and abuse, so just make sure to know before going into it.

I just personally didn’t vibe with the narrator, felt like she was phoning it in and it was distracting to me.

Where do I even start with this book, holy shit. It was an emotional rollercoaster. I was eager to read through the end, to the big mystery to be solved. At the beginning I thought that the protagonist was insufferable, at one point I even wanted to stop reading because of that.
I think I saw through the gaslighting of her dad and was just waiting for Bel to finally catch up already!
At the end EVERYTHING made sense and it left me with immense satisfaction.
This book is even better than AGGGTM and AGGGTM is already very good.
Holly Jackson, you've done it again! Cheers to the modern Agatha Christie!

pre-review from book announcement: IM SO EXCITED….and the cover??? yum???

review:

uhmm I'm very disappointed 😭 I'm starting to think agggtm may of been a one hit wonder??

the premise of the book was really intriguing, but the way jackson went about it just wasn't interesting to me sadly. the book was reallyyyy slow and kinda boring for the most part. the whole like first 70% felt like filler or something. there was just a lot of parts that didn't feel needed at all!! it just kinda dragged on forever, like there was no action just the main character having little inklings and finding little clues yk? coulda cut a hundred pages or smt

the main character also sucked!! she was a bitch the whole book for no reason at all. why should i care if she gets murdered?? shes a asshole. i HOPE she gets murdered. it was as if she had no brain too. like in the beginning shes like "why is rachel back so suspicious" and its not suspisous at all. then she yk starts finding hints and I'm like most of these arent suspicious and shes making it seem like she just found out rachel murdered her dog yesterday. later things do get suspisous and I'm like okkkk yeah i get it now then bel is like "actually yk what! rachel didnt do anything" after
that phil guy apparently locked her mom up
likeeee ur believing this bullshit after u were playing detective?

honestly didnt like any of the characters but ASH and he was hardly in this damn book. lets talk about
the romance....this god forsaken 'romance'. this romance was ass!!!!! ur telling me bel and ash liked each other? maybe ash liked bel but bel was always absolutely shitting on ash. for no fucking reason. apparently some of the tyrannizing was cuz of how he dressed but how he dressed is like normal from where I'm from.....? and even if they were just messing around and making fun of each other like it was mainly bel and she didnt seem to be joking for one but lets say she was joking: don't get with someone who is constantly being rude to you!!!!!!!!!!! the chemistry was nonexistent okay? enemies to lovers my ASSHOLE. these two kissed twice and i wanted to close my book buddy.

the writing was okay. tell me why she had these characters say a bunch of cringe stuff and there was a bunch of unneeded swearing like chill......buddy. a few examples are; when ash gave bel a thumbs up and she thought "he could shove those fingers up his-" stop being edgy!!! or "come to justice, is that what he says to his wife in bed?" shut up!!!!!!!!!! i don't gaf stop acting like a 5th grader 😭 shes literally 18, shes acting the way i acted in 5th grade when i learned what swearing was...

the plot twist wasssss mid!!!!!!! i guessed it, you guessed it, we all guessed it right? just kidding, but srsly so predictable!! and it didn't seem to be very realistic to me but whatever i guess. the whole 370 pages of like basically filler was not worth this plot twist. the action only starts when you were like 75% in, and even then it wasn't entertaining i was just thinking "oh."

THE ENDING........sucked
you cant make me believe that bel and carter would just gaslight and basically ruin the life of sherry at the end. sherry was nice, she had some flaws but can you imagine telling your mom to fly to canda and never contact you again? or your aunt? sure, sherry made weird comments abt carters weight and she might of known that carter wasn't actually a strangers baby; but imagine if you were trying to have a kid and you couldn't; would you ask questions if your dad was like 'here i have a kid for you' NO!!! what did sherry do wrong??? nothing harsh enough for her to be sent to Canada to never speak to her children again.... i also didn't like the ending with ash.. also not carter accidentally calling rachel mom in public like you kept calling her rachel a few weeks ago and now your calling her mom in public? idiot!!!

anyway I'm so disappointed!!!!!!! jacksons new books since agggtm have not been hitting its devastating... this was my most anticipated read and now its my most let down..
