Very fun
Very fast paced
Lacks depth and world building so I don’t really care about the characters but it was a fun read

“Who did this to you?” he asked roughly, as if it was an effort for him to stay in control.

“Faeries show their wings to their enemies, right before they kill them. I think it’s some stupid intimidation thing. But the only other time I think it happens is when they’ve scented their mate.”

“Nox was the Evening Star. The story goes that he burned himself out completely, until there was nothing left of his power. But one demon, the Prince of the Abyss, Abaddon, held open the portal. Nox had to make a split-second decision before everything was lost. He was foolish and young and he told the demon he would give it whatever it wanted. Abaddon told him he would leave this world until the Evening Star shone once more. He merely requested the life of whoever held Nox’s heart.”

“I love you, Lil. Till each star blinks out in the sky,” I murmured into her hair, hugging her tightly. Her lips quivered as I pulled back, and a silent tear fell down the side of her face as she replied, “And I love you, Aster. Till the night comes to claim us all.”

she said, “I’d take you over Nox. Or the world for that matter. I know that’s selfish, but it’s true.” In the haze of the half-sleep I replied, “I’d have to disagree. My life has always been cursed. Even before I met him.”

He pressed his lips to my forehead and then said, very softly, “I will find you in the next life, Asteria. I promise you.” “No. It won’t be you. It isn’t supposed to be you.” He smiled sadly and replied, “The goddess will not find me worthy, my star. I’ve done too many horrible things in my life for that to happen. I’m just glad I met you. I will always be glad of that, until my spirit is but a whisper in the expanse of time.”

I don’t want to be here without him.

Two guards stopped directly in front of my cell, Ewin being one of them. He cleared his throat and began, “Princess Asteria Dianna Fairwae, I, Ewin Wells, Captain of the Guard of His Majesty, King Calum of the Seelie Court—” “You can skip with the theatrics, Ewin. I’m quite aware of all our titles,” I said. I was exhausted and hopeless, but I could still muster a little sass, just for Ewin. His face twisted into a mix of anger and what I could have sworn was pity as he said, “You’ve been challenged with the Trial of the Goddess, princess.” “On what charge?” Ewin cleared his throat. “For plotting against His Majesty, King Calum and his court with members of the Unseelie Court.” Well, I couldn’t really deny that one.

“Daughter of the sky, sister to the sun, cherished child of the moon, may the goddess hold you gently. May you rest easy in the stars with those who came before and may your soul find its home in the Light.”

“I love you as the stars love the night sky. Endlessly.”

It was an easy read and I liked how the book handled the FMC’s experience of trauma. It felt like the book could have been more immersive with its descriptions and the characters could have been more fleshed out

This was such a good story and had great world building. I can’t wait for the second book to release later this year. The ending was such a major cliff hanger!

i can see why a lot of people rated it lower because it had potential to be so much better but i still loved the characters. the beginning of nox and asterias relationship sorta reminded me of klaus and caroline from vampire diaries. it was also not as smutty as i thought, but overall still a great story in my opinion

DID NOT FINISH: 26%

It just read like the author was trying to fit as many popular tiktok tropes as possible. It was just very frustrating to read. The characters just skipped over the getting to know eachother stage and straight to the "who did this to you" stage. Like it was literally their 3rd interaction with eachother wtf.
Also there were a ton of typos which just drove me insane.

I got to stop falling for book quotes shared on tik tok.
