Perfect read for winter break—- the author did a fantastic job creating the cold setting and I loved it all. Super creepy!

Ms Gerritsen has done it again! Awesome mystery thriller read in 2 days, a record for me I think.
Dr Maura Isles plays center stage in this one. Dr Isles attends a medical conference. She bumps into a school mate from pre-med. They get together and before she knows it, agrees to go on a ski trip with him and his friends. As they drive to the resort, they end up on an unmarked road and their car gets stuck in the deep snow. Its 30 miles back to the gas station and no cell service. They decide to walk back but before they get started, Maura sees a sign. Its a private road and they decide they should investigate the road to see if there are any houses. What they find is haunting. I won't say any more, you have to read it!

I liked this book much more than the last one, although is appreciated the return of some characters. I wasn't sure how a book about Maura being totally separated would work, but it did a good job keeping Jane involved too. Loved the boy in the book.

In search of a new mystery series, I actually read #9 (Silent Girl) first, due to the luck of the library draw, and then backtracked to read #1 - 8 plus The Bone Garden.

Ice Cold is better than several others in the series, perhaps because it's set outside of Boston & New England. Dr. Isles, in Wyoming for a medical examiners' conference, decides on the spur of the moment to accompany an old college friend, his daughter, and his friends on what is supposed to be an overnight trip. The trip is a disaster for all parties in different ways.

Apart from the sudden cameo reappearances of Sansone & Lily Saul, I found the characters and turn of events to be believable. Also, unlike Patricia Cornwell, who seems to hate her characters with an undying hatred, Tess Gerritsen likes her creations, and I look forward to what they do in #10, whenever that comes out.

Another great installment in this series. This is one of my favorites as well. It's twisted and full of twists and turns...some expected and others not so much. Once again I would recommend this series to others. I will continue the series.
