This book moved like molasses. I am beyond disappointed. There were so many characters it was dizzying. Outside of our mains (and there were a lot of mains), I had no idea who anyone was, this could've have benefited from a glossary/family tree appendix.
The battles were boring.
The dialogue was so dry and heartless.
The fast travel, or flashing, power made it hard at times to keep up where the heck they were at any given point.
The Allegra reveal was dumb and felt like an "oh yeah, I gotta do something with this character before I wrap up the book" kind of deal. And Petra. What a waste of a villain. 90% of this book is Fallon and Friends looking at maps and strategizing taking cities. Why? FOR THE LIGHT! But yet, killing Petra and her Dragon mount is what ended the Darkness in the world? Why did we spend so much time taking D.C. and New York? Petra wasn't even a player! GAH, what a passive freakin' villain.
Book one was great, riveting. Book two was okay, felt more like set-up for an epic conclusion. Book three - didn't even feel like Ms. Roberts' writing. What the h3ll?

Not sure if I read this too fast or what, but I still found it significantly less compelling than the first book in the series (though more exciting than the second book). Maybe it all just felt too pre-ordained and predictable? I only got one small bolt of surprise and that was long before the conclusion.
Nonetheless, solidly written and kept my attention. Just didn't thrill me the way Year One did.

First book was so good. Second wasn't bad. Third however shows how rushed this trilogy was. This book has a lot of battles, but Nora does not know how to write engaging combat. The first book was a more genre breaking then anything while the past two have been filled heavly with fantasy/the one cliche. There was no real conflict. The good defeat evil without any struggle. Felt really lazy.
O final perfecto para a triloxía.
Nesta novela, narrada a dúas voces, Fallon, Duncan e Tonia xa máis adultos fanlle frente á loita final contra a escuridade.
Gañan protagonismo, puntualmente, outros personaxes coma Hannah, Collin, Ethan e Travis, pero quedas con ganas de saber máis deles.
Non me importaría ler unha cuarta novela que contara anos despois que foi dos superviventes da batalla final.

I felt like the entire book was an outline of events that happened. There were so many characters that I had a hard time keeping track, and then a major lack of character development in many of our main players (ahem, Tonia, Hannah, and even Ethan and Travis). It took me 2 months to force myself to finish the final third of the book. I spent a lot of time reading this book but zero time being emotionally invested. I only finished it because I spent the money and felt the need to finish out the series.
The pacing was again really weird in this one, but I still love the concept and world that was built
Overall I liked this series. The mix of real-world pandemic and fantasy magic was very interesting, and I liked seeing the characters develop over 20 years. With that being said, I think these books were also very fast paced. Like 3 books covered 20 years of events... But it was done well!
