What a great conclusion to this trilogy! I am reminded again and again how different this series has been from others I've read from Nora Roberts and it is a welcome change. For me, this was a well thought out story that had some really great twists and turns. Characters you come to love, situations that make you root for the good guys and loathe the bad ones. The diversity of characters is worth noting, too. I found myself in tears more often than I realized while in the moment.
As a Wiccan myself, it was nice to see some believable spellwork in this series, even though the story was truly fantasy driven. I would really love to see Nora tackle a modern magickal story with magick that isn't effect driven. I think she could do it.

Never disappointed
I should have gone back and read the first two again, but she does such a good job of reminding you of who the character is from the prior books.

The ultimate Dark vs Light showdown finally happens. #onesentencesummary
My last book of 2021.
This was the last book of The Chronicles of the One trilogy. It was okay and definitely not my favorite of the three books. I liked how everything came full circle with characters from both of the previous books showing up. However, I was hoping for more of a more exciting showdown. This book didn't really build up to that for me and was my least favorite of the three books. It was cool and funny that it ended on NYE (same day I finished it).

An epic end to this trilogy, you won't be disappointed! Nora does it again...story telling that hooks you so much that you care about the outcome of each character.
finally got my hands on book 3 of this series, I've been looking forward to it for a while. It started slowly and built up to the final battle...however I was a little let down at this final showdown at the end. It just seemed to end in a fizz rather than the big bang I was hoping for. Still I'm glad that I read the end of the series.

This was probably my least favorite of the series. Just kind of meh for a finale to a lot of build up. Second book was best because it was creative and surprising.
The story of Fallon Swift and team is a solid page turner from the first book to the third and final book. Nora Roberts obviously can write a story.
The only issue I had with this story was the short-shrift the author gives to battle details. They're almost treated as something after-the-fact. This can be a good thing if you tire of endless details of blood and gore but I found that it just left me feeling like I missed something.
But...I highly recommend reading this dystopian-themed trilogy. It's out of the norm for this author and she does a really good job of keeping you invested until the last page.

Magical and mundane armies collide in the last of the trilogy set after the end of the world.
Third books of trilogys are tricky. It's hard to wrap everything up nicely, while still having a good story, and maybe leaving a couple of threads in case you want to expand the world afterwards. It's a fine line and sadly, for me at least, this one doesn't make it.
First of all - and this is a problem with a lot of series, not just this one - it's been a year since I read the last book and another year since the first one. I remember, vaguely, who the main characters are, but relationships, fine details, and a lot of names are gone. There's no recap or glossary or anything that might help, although there may be in the physical book. In an ideal world, of course, we'd all have time to reread earlier books before tackling later ones, but...
And to be fair to Nora, some of the characters reminisce about events from the first book. They don't do it until about halfway in, but still.
Nora has an odd habit of jumping POVs in a scene. Almost every scene is from Fallon's point of view, but there'll be a few lines or a paragraph from someone else's point of view in the middle. It probably doesn't matter to a lot of people, but I personally find it quite jarring.
Even laying those aside, I just wasn't that interested in the story. It seemed to be an endless cycle of 'an attack, Fallon feels bad but then remembers that they saved people, they plan the next attack, an attack...' I'm glad I finished the series, but I just can't say that I enjoyed this read.
