Sad to see this trilogy end. Nothing surprising happened but so well written.
This was hard for me to get through and definitely my least favorite of the trilogy. It just seemed to go on and on and on.

Having fully taken on the responsibility of becoming the One, Fallen has mobilized her army as it continues to grow in her initial steps towards taking back what the darkness has stolen from the world. It’ll take a lot more planning, training, and expanding before they’re read but she has her sites set eventually on taking back Washington DC and New York. There’s only so much time before the government, raiders, Dark Uncannies, and the Purity Warriors face what’s coming from them and the unity between her, Duncan, and Tonia can be the turning point needed.
I think the best part of this book was the author’s pacing. The way she handled the timeline and the need to show the reader what happened at each battle without overwhelming them with fight scenes that dragged the book shined brightly. I also continue to appreciate how refreshing it is to have parental figures within the book and the vital role they play. The relationships and friendships really helped to keep the pace going with such a wide selection of characters (especially with the different military bases) while also not making it extremely confusing. They all hard pretty solid personalities to help distinguish them. The further explanation of magick was great with all the potions and spells and I loved she Fallon grow from both the good and the bad. Would highly recommend for any who reads fantasy as more of an urban/post apocalyptic easy read that also gives you a nice refreshing pallet cleanse from regularly occurring trends in the genre.

This one didn't have the same sort of punch as the preceding ones and at times felt a bit rushed. Much of the action is glossed over to the detriment of the depth and feel of the world and the characters; Roberts doesn't seem comfortable writing the fight scenes and violence they entail, despite the central role war plays. The loss of other POVs, which were so important in the first and second books for adding life to the world Roberts built, was a major blow to the quality of the storytelling. There is no doubt that Fallon, as the central character, should be the focus, but Roberts overwhelmed the tale with her. Perhaps it was due to limitations imposed by the publisher or a contract, but certainly Duncan's POV at least should have been as central as Fallon's to the narrative.
Still, despite some qualms, I did enjoy the story and found it finished up well enough. I closed the book with a smile on my face and a fondness for the characters in my heart.

Probably the better of the series? Honestly do not know why I kept reading but I bought the series so I felt like I’d committed.
The writing was less bad probably because there was more time spent in New Hope with the least worst of the characters. Truly cannot dislike Max/Lana/Fallon/Simon more. For no real reason other than I find them annoying and not at all compelling.
So many of the characters felt flat and unfinished.
Was almost rooting for Petra even though she sucked, too.

Great ending to the series! I was left wanting for more.
