As a reader who isn't normally keen on fantasy, this was a brilliant final ending to a great trilogy! I was slowly but totally sucked into the fantasy realm during book 1 and enjoyed the entire storyline of the trilogy from beginning to end. Even Book 2 was wonderfully more than a transitional stop between the start and end. Definitely not my usual genre and definitely a surprisingly good read!

The Rise of Magicks, book 3 of the Chronicles of The One by Nora Roberts @norarobertsauthor. This is a reread for me, obviously. LOL! I originally read it in hardback. Now in ebook. There are so many scenes I cried through for this series. And I am not a crier! LOL

Such a fantastic final installment of this series! This is the conclusion of Fallon & Duncan's story. This book starts 2 years after the end of Of Blood & Bone. This follows Fallon as she takes down the enemies. Tropes: Dystopian, Magic/Shifters/Elves, Faerie, A Community of Family, Death of Pets (naturally & in war) & HEA!

I've read a lot of Nora Roberts. I tend to enjoy her fantasies with a hefty side of romance. I enjoyed the first book, very reminiscent of "The Stand" and different than what I would normally expect of her. The second book I enjoyed less so, as it became heavily "destiny" oriented. I had a hard time getting through this last book.

This last book devolved into mostly logistics, prophetic speeches, and hand-wringing. Despite the *extensive* logistics and mentions of maps, the battles/action scenes were sparsely described. Much of the dialogue was redundant, explaining the same concept repeatedly to new groups of people or repeating the same concept with slightly different words (for emphasis, maybe?). I was mentally deleting whole paragraphs in my head as I was reading. The constant "light" vs "dark" language got to the point of being obnoxious. Not to mention, there weren't really any shades of gray in the plot. The villains were all bad and the heroes were all good with only the slightest of flaws. Everyone did exactly what you expected of them.

This was an excellent finale to the Chronicles of The One trilogy! Ms. Roberts wrapped everything up in a perfect way. There was heartache but there was also joy. My only disappointment is that even for a fantasy series, this trilogy felt as though the romances were less developed throughout.

A HEA for a decent light fantasy series.

This was a wonderful end to a new type of Nora Roberts trilogy. I've been reading her for over 10 years and I tended to view her trilogies as having a sort of formula. In this trilogy that thought was turned on it's head. While there's an element of romance in all three books the focus is much more on world building, strategy and war. NR's tactical mind was revealed in this book, differently than in the In Death series. In these books strategy and battle tactics combine with a fantastical dystopian world. It was very well written and the characters NR focused on were well fleshed out. Sometimes I might have hoped she paid more attention to characters I really liked but I understand why she didn't. With the focus on the war there was only so much room for character building. A great read for NR fans everywhere, another show of her incredible talent and a wonderful new type of book for her to expand her fan base.
