I only read it to finish the series… why did he change Camilla’s name?? It doesn’t make sense.

"Havia bons hackers, havia gênios, e havia ela."

It’s not just that Lagercrantz is no Steig Larson - I didn’t expect that. But the plot is clunky, listing from scene to scene without successful transitions. He was given well developed three dimensional characters and he simply can not write for them. Worst of all, his Salander, one of the most unique, complicated and the best character (my humble opinion) of the series is reduced to a one dimensional cipher. Gone are the vivid descriptions, the emotional depth, and the complications of feeling. There is a twin sister plot, a nameless homeless man’s death, campaigns of cyber misinformation, and a Mount Everest climb in the past that reverberates in the present - all tied neatly up at the end. What ultimately is lacking is the emotional payoff. The story limps to the conclusion and it could have been so much better. Perhaps there is no other writer but Larson that could write Lisbeth Salander as she was meant and deserves to be. So treasure those first three books. I won’t read any more in this series.

This was fine. I dunno. It had all the Millennium bits in, it just... lacked the spice. Lisbeth seemed flat, and so did the writing. I'm glad I'm at the end of this series, and I guess it was a fitting end, but it just didn't grip me like the original trilogy. It didn't blow me away.

I will act as if David Lagercrantz books never happened so I can remember Millenium as it was when things made sense and the characters were well written.

I liked book #s 4 & 5 which David Lagercrantz continued from the ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ Trilogy. The central characters – Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist carried over their personalities very seamlessly. This book is unfortunately a very weak finish to the series, assuming this is the last in the series.

There are two tracks to the story, both of which expectedly involve Mikael Blomkvist & Lisbeth Salander. Track 1 – a beggar is found dead and it is a struggle to identify him. He had Mikael Blomkvist’s name & number. It turns out the dead man has a long story associated with him which involves some current day political leaders. Track 2 – the Russian mafia with whom Lisbeth has fought against is determined to eliminate those that oppose it. The tracks converge towards the end.

The story is ordinary; the progress of the story & pace even more so.
