this one was okay, it felt like they tried to put too much into too short of a book. It felt rushed. I also don't know if there's a spin-off series only in Swedish, but the ending just seemed to not really be a full ending to a series.
Graphic: Body horror, Misogyny, Racial slurs, Racism, Torture, Violence, Blood, Murder, Alcohol, Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Suicide, Vomit
I really loved the first 3 of this series, enjoyed the previous 2, and really disliked this one. It felt disjointed and too ridiculous. There are so many unnecessary characters and the whole story felt sloppy. Lisbeth is a shell of her original character and Mikael is on the verge of extremely dislikable. I'd like to see one more well-thought out book to wrap up this series and do it justice.

Better than I thought it would be. Happy to return to characters just wish they had more to do with each other.
Although I got the hardcover version of this as a gift a year or 2 ago, I read this in audio form so I could read while walking, cooking and driving (the little I do these days). I’d had the book at least 2 yrs so I figured it was a chance to finally read it.
It’s not as good as Stieg Larsson’s originals. While the various threads do eventually entwine as you’d expect, they spent too much time separate without a compelling problem or threat to care that much. I didn’t feel urgency until the final 1.5hrs. I think the first 3 books in the series did the best job of setting the scene while also presenting the characters. In fact, the characters in this felt really one dimensional. Several like Erika, Mickael, Lisbeth, Boblonsky (spelling?) are in earlier books so there isn’t as much ground to cover, but they were so blandly portrayed here that you didn’t feel like you were happily revisiting familiar figures.
It felt a bit mediocre. It checked the boxes for a Salander book. Mickael didn’t have that much to really do like in other books.
This was a decent audio book, but not stellar.

The Girl Who Lived Twice was a very plot-driven novel. It followed Lisbeth on another adventurous journey that showcased her genius. However, in comparison to the original Larsson books, this one fell a bit short when it comes to the characterization and plot. The beginning was not very exciting and there were some pages I just wanted to fast forward. They weren’t very strong, is what I mean. However, towards the end, as the author brings in the various narratives together and intertwines the plot, it gets so much better. You just have to push through a few pages. We also get to know a lot of things about Lisbeth’s past and her father (!) and it was exciting to see that about her. However, Camilla Lisbeth’s sister is no les tougher than her sister, albeit in a different manner. In this book, we also deal with a lot of emotions as Lisbeth races against time to stop her sister. She has feelings of guilt and shame and it is interesting to see her process these feelings.
Overall, it was an interesting read and I rate it 3.5/5 stars.

Una trama inverosimile e confusa. Il quinto l’avevo mollato dopo poche pagine. Questo l’ho finito, ma non ne valeva la pena.
Exciting as always! I hope there is more to come from Lisbeth and Mikael!
Giving it a non-deserved 3 star rating only because of my loyalty to the series, but how disappointing. It should be a 2 star. Such a superficial approach to the characters. Thankfully we know Lisbeth and Mikael from the Larsson era, otherwise they would just be plain and trivial. And the end of Camilla... seriously? What a mediocre way to resolve a plotline including a relevant character, without bothering to give any insights afterwards.
As much as I love Millenium, I think the saga should end. The Larsson vs Lagercrantz books are the ‘what I ordered vs what I got’ meme of the literature.
Edit: Lowering the rating to 2 stars after sleeping on it.
