I don't get heebie jeebies often but this book? Lord Almighty. I legitimately thought I knew what was going to happen and I was dead wrong. The book starts slow but the moment it gets weird, it gets *weird*. Listening to the audiobook is a little rough with how the narrator takes slight pauses in the sentences instead of the end but I got used to it.

Just what I needed!
If you typically read genre fiction, this will be a slower read. If you typically read literary fiction, then the plot will feel comfortable and easy to read.
I love everything about Mexican Gothic!

I feel slightly conflicted about this book. It was both great and not good? It's a superb spooky house story, I cannot deny it. But the fact that it effectively takes place in England-in-Mexico was odd. I don't know what I think about that. It's a good book though.
