“When we care about someone, they deserve the benefit of the double. We have to consider not only what they did, but also why they did it. Intent matters.”
Christina Lauren really just made a book with the same name as me as the FMC (I know it's not related but I always get excited by the books with my name on it!). I just can't stop recommending her books because it's really a rollercoaster of emotions you'd feel when you read this book. Anna is just the most amazing FMC I've read this year. I can't stop smiling and laughing with whatever she's saying or thinking. She's really just one of the best character out there. A strong AND funny female lead! What else are you looking for? Oh. Yes, Liam is also just swoon-worthy and they're just the cutest together!
I love how you can really see the life of the rich versus the poor. How these two type of people can co-exist in a place and how one can influence the other. Those life-lesson can bulldoze you out of nowhere too!

The concept behind this book was super intriguing and I couldn't stop reading the book. I thought the character development and plot was excellently written. The dual POV in 1st person POV and the banter between the main male and female characters were perfection.
I would say this is a good book to get someone into reading adult contemporary novels since it's a fun easy read.

If I'd been in that situation, Anna would have disgusted me, disgusted with the wealth and excess. Overall, it was a good book, just more emotional than I was prepared for. It harkened back to the Beautiful Bastard days but with more emotional depth. I wish we'd gotten more into Anna's past and issues as well.

The toxic relationships are between Liam and his family. As well as a bit between Anna and her mom, though that's not nearly as much of the story.itsgnat's review against another edition

🌶️ 3/5
Really, Christina Lauren books are always a great read, and this was no exception.
📝 The story was fun, the FMC was hilarious, the chemistry between the two MCs was great. The whole fake spouse trope can be hard to buy in to, but it felt believable, with the stakes in this story.
🌶️ I always wish Christina and Lauren's books were a little dirtier/more explicit than they actually are, but there's still spice to be had! Multiple heated, enthusiastic scenes that were well done.
🎧 The narration was great! The book is dual POV, so there were two narrators. They both did an excellent job.
🤑 I get major ick from billionaires, so I avoid books about them. But this managed to be a story mostly featuring billionaires that actually didn't gross me out! Or it did, but in the ways the authors wanted where I could still root for the MMC. I thought they dealt with the wealth issue pretty decently overall.
