  Weird!
I can confidently say I've never read another book like this. It's formatted as a collection of documents from a serial killer after he and his partner disappeared, published in homage to their victims. There are poems, which we at first are meant to believe are written by Martyr (the killer), but end up being just stolen from the people he murdered.
The story of Tamsen and Pres is the most engaging part of this book. The set up is great, and seeing the loop reset itself was really interesting.
I would recommend this to someone who is in the mood for a disturbing vibe (is to be disturbed to be scared) but absolutely no plot. Stay away from this if you aren't into body horror or you're looking for narrative writing.

there are a lot of elements to this story that i love, but it felt very rushed, especially the ending. this reads to me more like a fanfic than a published novel, and i say that as someone who lives and breathes fanfic. there is a lot more that could be explored and polished before it would be something i would rate 3 or more stars.

the horror elements were wonderful, and i loved the story involving Tamsen and Presley. i would have been interested in more of that storyline. everything with Martyr and Ambrose felt too rushed and disjointed, and at times too forced. i liked what the author was going for, but the execution fell flat. all that being said, i am very much looking forward to reading more from this author.

My friends always tell me “things have gotten worse since we last spoke,” was frustrating despite the fact that I loved it. However, I understand how they feel because I discovered that this story is the one in his cannon which evokes the same reaction.

I loved this book more than I expected. If you want to read it, my best advice: stop reading the reviews and go into the book completely blind. It makes it more interesting to read.

so incredibly inconsistent and lacking in everything that made it somewhat good.

This was one of LaRocca's sci-fi oriented horror books, and it was a pretty straightforward read, wasn't surprised by the ending, but it was enjoyable to follow along.
