I was expecting a light romcom. This was not it. Had some heavy themes in the first half of the book. Pacing took a plummet after the big events. And then the relationships felt absolutely contrived out of nowhere.

Emily Griffin has another hit! The multiple POV’s were distracting at first, but by the end the story I felt like I knew each character better. Having lost one of their besties to suicide at graduation, these three characters lean on and draw from each other, even though they are apart in location and life. When Hannah’s life is turned upside down Tyson and Lainey are there for her. Friendship, romance, and a whole lot more!

I expected just a little bit more. It was a good read but I wasn’t super impressed with the plot and felt like I couldn’t connect with the characters!

A great beach read - as a warning the first chapters are dark with reference to suicide, something you don’t usually get in a beach read but then it becomes a friends supporting friends frolic. Definitely an emphasis on the importance of your chosen family. it does feel like things are tied up a little too neatly at the end in an unrealistic way and makes it seem like true individual growth was achieved in a pretty short span of time. But it does feel hopeful for moving forward after an extremely difficult period

Lainey, Tyson, Summer, and Hannah all come from various places and backgrounds but become fast friends after connecting one night in their college residence hall. When tragedy strikes their senior year, they cope by making a promise to always be there for each other when one of them needs it.
Fast Forward 10 years and Hannah's relationship falls apart very close to the wedding date. When the friends converge to support her, it becomes clear that they are all at a bit of a crossroads in their lives, so they decide to take an extended vacation to reconnect with each other and hopefully learn what their next step will be in their own lives.
I loved the friendship connected and how they lean on each other and navigate the typical messiness of a long-term relationships. I personally didn't need the romance aspect, but it didn't annoy me too much as it was really only a major plot point toward the end.
