I dont know what point this book served. It was great to have more from Izumi and her struggle to fit all of herself together but if you can remove her love life and it not have any impact then I don't know what the purpose was to include a poorly done love triangle at all. We all knew what she was going to choose even if that choice wasn't the right one in my own opinion
because he did leave her. He left when it got hard for her to pick up the pieces by herself. Whos to say something else comes and he doesnt run away again?
.

Overall I did not enjoy it but I dont regret reading it.

-erste Buch war besser
-fand es cool wie sie und die shining Zwillinge weggeschickt wurden um sich zu vertragen
-Eltern kamen zusammen was süß war
-mochte eriku nicht und war froh als akio zurück kam

I found Tokyo Dreaming to be a nice continuation to Tokyo Ever After. I think the writing improved from the first book and it's a quick read overall. It's a coming of age story and a very readable one.

I could not give it more than 3.5 stars. I found Izumi to be a little bit immature, especially at the beginning of the book. That's understandable though, considering the age of the character. The real blow for me was the ending. I didn't agree with her final decision in love and I found the thought process that let to making it stretched. The plot around one of the main characters (without spoiling) also didn't make sense for me and felt like a pretty sudden twist at the very end of the book.

While this was an okay book and I somewhat enjoyed myself, I’d say it would be fine to skip it. I wish I did. Learning more about old and new characters was fun but it all felt a little pointless at the end. The resolution to the conflict felt too fast and didn’t make much sense.

A fitting and sweet end to this YA AAPI Princess Diaries-esque duology. This second installment focuses on our main character, Izumi's, journey with love and deciding what her future holds. Izumi and her mom are firmly ensconced in palace life, living their dreams until it all seems to fall apart - Hanako and the Crown Prince's prospective marriage seems to be almost ending before it's begun when the royal council decide that they won't endorse their upcoming nuptials. Izumi immediately jumps into action mode, believing that she needs to shrink herself and make the choices that everyone else wants her to make in order to help support her dream of her parents being together. This book is about Izumi finding herself and learning how to put her own happiness above what others expect for her.
I guess I had fun reading this as an adult but think that I would have liked it a lot more in high school. It's sweet, inspiring, and has just enough tension to make it compelling, though I didn't always love the decisions that the author made for Izumi in the end.
But also, justice for Eriku - I wanted to throw my Kindle when she broke up with him over nothing!!!

I read the first book over a year ago and it was hard to get back into. might reread the first and then pick this back up?

This story becomes full of tropes and is not a great follow up to the first book. I found myself listening to this book on 3x speed bc I was just curious what happened. Instead I looked up the ending and decided to just DNF the book.
