This book was so good!!

I loved reading Jasmine's perspective — she's definitely not your typical romance mc. She's opinionated, she's...a bit of a bitch (but we still love her) and so hardworking to achieve her goals.

Her and Ivan were just 🥰🥰. Their relationship progressed so naturally and they complimented each other really well. I was a bit hesitant at first but it all worked out in the end.

I did have a few issues with the book. I absolutely couldn't stand Jasmine's family, they were so rude to her. There were also some really weird fatphobic lines and razor propaganda?? That's why it's not 5 ⭐

It is one of many books love. It makes you belive in love, and want the type of love that Ivan and Jasmine have. Yes it is a slow burn but it is a good slow brun. All this small moments are just hte best.
I did read it a bit fast so i didnt feel like i really go to enjoy the book, and therefore i won't give a five star. I feel like i didnt rally connect with the story.

Jasmine is very stubborn and headstrong but Ivan is great. So caring and kind.

Mariana Zapata is queen of the slow burn but I was disappointed in this compared to Wall of Winnipeg: Jasmine seemed very immature and the dynamic between the Suarez family and Jasmine & Ivan at the beginning felt very immature. Considering she was the youngest of five children at 26 years old, family dinners felt like a bunch of teenagers.

This was a very slow burn rivals to friends to lovers. Lukov and Jasmine are very well matched with a level of incredible professional respect for one another. Through their rivalry and eventual friendship they help each other grow and comfort each other. There is a good amount of arguing and emotional tension that comes with this that isn't always pretty. However, I think it's a realistic depiction of healthy confrontation between people that care about each other. It takes a very long time for their relationship to actually become romantic, but the wait is definitely worth it.

Furthermore, I appreciated the great relationship Jasmine has with her family. They are supportive, encouraging, and loving with her. There is also a lot of growth that we see for her in the context of her relationship with her father by the end of the story. Lukov also has a very loving family that I really liked as side characters. Overall, this story has a lot of emotional depth beyond the romance and I'm looking forward to reading more books by Mariana Zapata.

A slow start but a wonderful end. I’m not really into the whole “couples who bicker 24/7” because it just makes them both look extremely immature for a 26 and 29 yo. It wasn’t until they actually started communicating with one another that I began enjoying the book. The playful banter was still there, but the relationship had depth.

Jasmine is a bit hard to love because she’s very short tempered and self-involved, prioritizing her love for figure skating over everything else in her life. I think
after her mom’s accident
she realized how important her family is to her and how important it is that they know how important they are to her.

I love Ivan because even when he was being a dick he was never cruel, he just seemed mostly indifferent/immature. It’s confusing because he later says
that he’s always wanted to skate with her, so why did he act like the agreement was a burden and constantly reminded her that it was only for 1 year? My biggest complaint was how he got so angry at her when he found out she was harassed/stalked online. She didn’t owe him that info they weren’t that close.

Overall the couple had great chemistry and was very supportive of one another, I just wish they started to get along sooner.

This book was the slowest slow burn I’ve read so far but boy was it worth it! While at times, Jasmine came across immature, I really enjoyed her growth throughout the book. Ivan was the perfect brooding man with the hidden soft spots. I would have loved to have read his POV at certain points but I enjoyed being just as surprised by his behavior as Jasmine was.  I knew this was a long book going in but I’ll admit that I had a hard time with the first few chapters as the story was being set up. But once the plot started moving, I didn’t want to put it down. The insults between Jasmine and Ivan was really entertaining to read too.

I freaking loved this book. I specifically waited to read it during the Winter Olympics because it makes me think of Scott and Tessa ugh they were the best! Hahahah it was adorable, and I loved every second! I don’t know what else to say except I sometimes regret stopping figure skating and doing hockey instead. Like, I want a partner to fall in love with! Love Ivan! The only criticism is the freaking nickname Meatball! Ugh like there was no backstory and it sound gross rolling off the tongue. It wasn’t very cute. Otherwise I loved everything about their relationship and I loved the epilogue. (That’s probably my favourite part of romance novels tbh)
