The stories in this collection are very short - they feel more like bits. Some are funny. Some are clever. Others miss their mark.
The reason I'm not giving this book 3 stars is because of a story near the end of the book titled The Bravest Thing I've Ever Done in which the author makes a cheap joke at the expense of the trans community. A white cys man does not need any reward for that sort of behavior.

This was like a mixture of Aesop's Fables and Wayside storeys for the 21st century "grown-up." Whether is was a brief poetic aphorism or a more lengthy prosaic narrative, there was always some inherent philosophy. While there wasn't always a clear moral to the story, each and every anecdote did cause you to think on some profound subject like love, or death, or heaven, or pet rabbits. At times, it made me chuckle. I think these stories are best when read aloud to a group of people. It's all in the delivery of each line, and the laughter it generates... and the laughter, of course, fuels each story.
B.J,Novak is a great writer. I have been a fan of his, since I started watching The Office. He has written some great episodes. I went into this book thinking it would be a goldmine. I was a little underwhelmed to be honest. Some of the stories were great, while others were a bit bland and lacked the Novak touch. Overall it is a great book with a lot of interesting stories.
there are some really funny stories in this but I kinda got tired of this book after a while
