This was different than Tiras' and Lark's story. While their's was full of action and mystery and a little bit of romance, Kjell and Sasha's story was romance from the start with a little bit of action.

But I loved it all the same.

I thought Tiras was cool but Kjell is cool too. I mean, I didn't feel anything for him in the first book, only curiosity and skepticism. But he proved to be so much more in this book. He's so different from Tiras. While Tiras is cool and gentle, Kjell is a little bit rough, gruff and manly. God, I loved him as much as I loved Tiras.

The brothers' interaction in this was wonderful. And Lark's presence actually brought comfort to Kjell, which was great!

And that epilogue; It was perfect. I was fangirling real hard, you have no idea.

This is a reread but I am still very much in love with this book. Yes, this book is a romantic fantasy. The love story is so freakin romantic, it's making my cold heart melt. Kjell and Sasha is such a cute couple. They remind me so much of Grey and Lia Mara from A Curse So Dark and Lonely Trilogy. Or maybe it's the other way around?

If you're expecting an elaborate world-building, don't. The world-building is simple, but it works.

The writing is beautiful and atmospheric but it's super easy to get into. The tone itself is a bit melancholic and romantic. It's like you're reading a fairytale.

5 stars and not anything less!

Oh man. This book is phenomenal.

I read The Bird and The Sword nine months ago, and I wasn’t sure if I would ever read the sequel. Much less when I learnt that it was about Kjell, Tiras’s brother.
I didn’t like Kjell in the first book so it took me some time to come back for his story. But I am glad I did.

After Jeru, the country of King Tiras, was saved from the Volgars threat. Kjell, the captain of the king’s guard, is off around every city, killing every birdman he encounters, securing the nation. One of his expeditions ends at the bottom of a cliff, with a women closer to death that life. And his life is about to change forever.

In this book we see Kjell grow, accept and evolve. He embraces who he is and what his life and gift is for. I love to see a character become more that what’s expected and Amy is just excellent.
Amy never fails to deliver, beautiful prose, intriguing plot, direct descriptions, characters you can’t help but relate and love and some you hate but understand.
This is a tale of brokenness and finding your worth. Of courage and love.
Thank you, Amy. Again.

When I found out that this was a continuation of The Bird and the Sword I was extremely excited and ready to devour this book in one sitting. Unfortunately, this book just wasn’t all that good to me.

What I enjoyed about The Bird and the Sword was the introduction of fantasy intertwined with a slow, consistent love story between the two main leads. I loved Kjell’s relationship with Tiras in the first book and the way The Queen and the Cure continued made me disappointed.

While I didn’t mind Kjell’s point of view, I couldn’t connect with Sasha. Not like I did with Lark from the first book. I think this disconnection from the main characters prevented me from appreciating the lyrical writing that Amy Harmon provides.

The love story was a bit of a mess in my opinion, with plot twists in the book coming from left and right. And then some things are just shoved to the side or some new facts are brought out to light for the convenience of wrapping up the story.

This book isn’t all that bad, but when I compare it to The Bird and the Sword, I’m left sorely disappointed with this sequel. What I loved about the first book wasn’t present in this instalment, and I didn’t like the direction the book ended up taking.

Recommended if you enjoyed the first book and you’re willing to prepare yourself for the extra dose of romance instead of the subtle one.

It's not only the original and engaging plots, it's in the gorgeous delivery that Amy Harmon wins our hearts. Her writing can't be called anything less than beautiful.

The Queen and the Cure is the second installment in The Bird and the Sword Chronicles. It focuses on the King's half-brother Kjell and the intriguing woman he saves just on the verge of death.

I'd call this a super angsty read with reveals that will turn your tummy inside out. Another gorgeous love story in a unique world wholly Amy Harmon's creation.

I liked this book even better than the first. Still the same magic system but followed different characters one of which was introduced in book one. I liked the relationship between these two better as it felt more equal so I didn't have the same negative vibe about the male lead. Happy ending and overall good story.
