haha wtf

for starters, who lied and told me this audio book was good? straight to jail for you

second, wtf did i read? i wish sloane was plucking my eyes out so i didn’t have to be subjected to this. the plot was literally nonsensical and the timeline did whatever the hell it wanted. there was no chemistry between the two besides *omg he/she is hot*. the spicy scenes made me cringe, and the literal serial killer aspect was not really utilized, it was more about rowan being a damn cook.

this was neither horror or romantic so it failed in both fronts.

I looooove when the MMC is head-over-heals in love with the FMC from day one and f*cking PINES over her.

Rowan Kane might be a serial killer, but he is a sappy romantic who took one look at Sloane Sutherland in that disgusting cage she was stuck in and said, "This woman is my everything and I will do everything in my power to keep her by my side. Even if she could pluck my eyeballs out."

He was so patient with her and knew she didn't trust easily and took so much time earning her trust. And Sloane slowly opening up to him and realizing he'd been there all along?? UGH my heart could barely stand it. SO CUTE AND WHOLESOME WATCHING THESE TWO MURDERERS PINE FOR ONE ANOTHER.

Can't wait for the next book because I already love Lark and I can't wait to see Lachlan come undone for her. It's going to be SO GOOD.

This book is a serial killer romance — full stop. It doesn’t shy away from the gimmick, which I appreciate, but it loses steam when actually developing the main characters and their relationships. The book broaches sensitive, significant character milestones but backs down when it’s time to actually explore them. Theoretically, this is a slow burn, but in practice, it’s instalove prolonged by a series of extremely awkward interludes. I didn’t necessarily dislike it, but it was a chore to get through the middle slump.

Hilarious, gory, and sexy. I'm not generally into romance, especially M/F, but it was enjoyable for me!

I LOVED the audiobook. If there is anyway you are able to read this on audio, do it. It is SOOO GOOD! I haven’t loved an audiobook this much in so long. I really enjoyed this because it was my first dark romance that I was able to get through and enjoy. It was hot, dark, gritty but entertaining. I think the one part I needed more info on is like what was David’s connection to Sloan???? and maybe I missed it or maybe it will be a storyline that is unfolded throughout the next two books. I just wanted answers.

For as graphic as this story could be (it is about serial killers taking out other serial killers after all), the two main characters are so soft with each other and so cute that I could myself sometimes forgetting what they did for fun. Don’t worry though every few chapters there’s enough murder and gruesomeness to remind you. 🤣 I liked the secondary characters as well and am looking forward to continuing with this series.

I listened to this book on audible and loved it.  This book is best described as a dark spicy rom com that had it all.  Deep back stories with a past,  enemies to lovers vibes,  slow burn,  strong desire,  thick tension,  witty, clever,  funny,  emotional. And to top it off the narrators were duet and the way they played off each other was perfect, you could feel the chemistry, and that Irish accent! I thoroughly enjoyed it and I'm not a big fan of horror or gruesome things
