A little too fast paced for me to give it 5 stars, but this was excellent. Funny, romantic, and SO DARK please read responsibly by reading the trigger warnings first (though adding the content warnings to this review was quite fun!). It's so very different from the typical romantic comedy books of late, but totally loved it. Can't wait for the next book!

haha wtf

for starters, who lied and told me this audio book was good? straight to jail for you

second, wtf did i read? i wish sloane was plucking my eyes out so i didn’t have to be subjected to this. the plot was literally nonsensical and the timeline did whatever the hell it wanted. there was no chemistry between the two besides *omg he/she is hot*. the spicy scenes made me cringe, and the literal serial killer aspect was not really utilized, it was more about rowan being a damn cook.

this was neither horror or romantic so it failed in both fronts.

I had heard in several places that this was a great listen, and while booktok tends to lead me wrong- in this case they were right. Great listening experience. This is a dark romantic comedy about serial killers. Kinda like"Dexter" + "Deadpool" + a sexy Irishman.

TMI/TW:

The book starts with the FMC locked in a cage, starving, watching maggots eat the corpse of a man. As someone in healthcare, I've seen maggots like this, I've seen starvation far past the point of the FMC. But hearing her call the maggots an army of "orzo pastas" marching towards her & her growling stomach was...healing. A funny thought to replace a disturbing image.

PLEASE READ THE TW !! There’s so many. This book was a gorey mess.

It’s witty, it’s funny, it’s cute, it’s poorly paced, and it’s not for everyone. At face value, it’s a 3 star read— the characters had depth, but the side characters and pacing was certainly lacking. The language was vivid, though, and the humor wasn’t millennial cringey— Rowan calling himself a “feckin eejit” when he messes up is ADORABLE

5/5 guilty read

I truly was not expecting to have the amount of fun I had while reading this. It was so unhinged in the BEST WAY POSSIBLE. 🥣🔪🍦

Rowan? I love him. LOVE. HIM. Sloane? A baddie. Their dynamic? Incredible. The banter? Top freaking notch. And the spice!? GOOD LORDDDDDD 🥵🥵😮‍💨😮‍💨

Give me book 2 now pleaseeeeeeee 👹
