There were parts of this I enjoyed--I loved the Cole family, how ride-or-die Ciara's friends were, the theme of learning how to let people care for and protect you--but ultimately the sweetness in the moments that focused on the budding relationship between Lincoln and Ciara juxtaposed with the thriller tone of the stalker plot was too disjointed for me.
I think I would have enjoyed the book more if it had leaned more into the darker vibe. Not in the sense that I think anything more dangerous needed to happen, but making Golden Girls jokes during a scene where they're playing TV tag, for example, broke the tension I thought Natasha Bishop otherwise effectively created. The moment we first learnEddie had followed her and broken into her apartment was so creepy! But then we're immediately back to something lighthearted. The tone yo-yod too much and I'd lost all sense of dread by the final climax.

Whew… this one sat with me in the best way. Natasha Bishop really gave us a heartfelt, emotional journey rooted in healing, family, and the kind of love that feels like a safe place to land. From beginning to end, this story unfolded so beautifully, I didn’t want to let it go.
The way Bishop explored identity, loss, forgiveness, and what home really means—whew, it was layered but still so soft. The characters felt real. Messy, honest, and so relatable. Watching them navigate grief, reconnection, and the slow build of trust again? It was intimate and powerful.
And let me say this: the writing? Gorgeous. The kind that makes you pause and feel everything. I found myself rooting for the characters to not only find love, but to find peace.
This wasn’t just a romance—it was a story about returning to yourself and realizing that sometimes, the home you need isn’t a place, it’s the people who see you and choose you fully.
