I'm surprised to find out Totally His is the third book in The Opposites Attract series by Erin Nicholas because, how have I managed to miss the other books (so far)?

Sophie Birch has spent her entire life trying to get people to love her, so as an adult, she doesn't always keep up the façade. When a fire begins at the theatre she inherited from her namesake grandmother, she's desperate to get back into the burning building to retrieve something that means a lot to a person she's become close to. Only an arrogant police officer hauls her out...rescues her leaving a lasting impression on her.

When Finn Kelly sees a scantily clad woman in pink underwear running back into the burning theatre rather than to escape it, he rushes over to locate and evacuate her from danger. Only carrying the reluctant, half-naked woman stirs up far more emotions than merely doing his job to protect her from harm way.

Finn is an archetypal gruff cop but underneath that testosterone-fuelled exterior is a caring and compassionate man. He's met his match when he encounters Sophie Birch, who he recognises as a feisty woman and more than a handful-pun intended. Their attraction is instant, but it's external influences that affect their chances of even having a relationship. Yet, once everything is out in the open, their path to a happy ever after is inevitable.

I read this as a standalone and it works perfectly. The protagonists from the previous books are secondary characters in Totally His and their presence adds depth to the narrative rather leaving the reader feeling they are missing something. The author's writing kept my attention always even when scenes that made me feel uncomfortable. There's nothing wrong with that as her narrative is doing exactly as I expect from a writer...eliciting an emotional reaction from a reader.

Overall, an entertaining novel from a new to me author; one I'll be reading again soon because of her other books in this series.

There is a reason that Erin Nicholas has quickly become one of my go-to authors. I’m crazy in love with her writing. She has a way of making me feel just enough of each emotion during her stories that I end satisfied but not overwhelmed.

Sophie and Finn had a great chemistry from their very first meeting which made for a pretty amazing ride into their HEA.

Finn is the epitome of the perfect guy whose perfection might actually be his most fatal flaw. He’s a fixer, which seems like a great thing...until there is something he just can’t fix. This is what frustrated me with this story the most. I was not a fan of how he let his need to fix everything affect his relationship with Sophie. That’s not to say that I loved how Sophie dealt with her dad, but I also understand that she was put in a very bad situation and was dealing with it the best way she could.

Overall this story was a perfect, sexy & sweet addition to the Opposites Attract series and a great example why I love this series and the author.

I really liked this book. Once I actually committed to it, I read it really quickly. Good characters. I wish Sophia's friends were a little more present in this book, that would be my only complaint.

I loved this book! I’m so sad to see this series end but hopefully we can see a spin-off for the Kelly family.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

With a father that made a living scamming women, Sophie has learned to depend on herself and guard her heart. When her theater ends up with some fire damage, she suddenly finds a hot cop invading her life.
The hot woman in pink lingerie caught Finn's attention right away but her guarded heart is giving him quite the challenge.
Sophie and Finn are about to be hit with a hurricane of past hurts, family drama, and sexual chemistry.

Maybe she'd give him a chance. The thought flashed through his mind. Maybe he'd like theater. Or maybe this was an opposites-attract thing. That seemed more likely. Or hell, maybe they could just date for the sex.

Third in the Opposites Attract series, we have our guarded heroine Sophie and open hearted hero Finn. Sophie's two girlfriends were the heroines of the two previous books but I had no problem starting here in the series. If you like Jill Shalvis, you'll enjoy this couple’s similar in tone playful encounters. The first half of this book was incredibly delightful with Finn and Sophie meeting and acting out some great fun and hot chemistry.

How he wanted to say sweet things like how gorgeous she was and how lucky he felt that she'd let him close like this. Close was hard for her. This was not sex-only dating, and he knew she knew that.

A fire gives our couple their meet-cute but Sophie actually ends up being the great theater friend Finn's mother had been raving about. Finn is the oldest and every since his father died, he's taken on the role of leader and taking care of everyone. I liked his calm, cool, and take care of business attitude that was also accompanied with a sense of humor and sexy demeanor. He was a great companion to Sophie's kickboxing, I don't want any part of a family, and feisty self. The first half was them meeting, feeling each other out, and sparking off each other and I enjoyed it immensely. After that, it seemed their relationship was a bit rushed with their second meeting kind of snowballing into a pretty invasive personal talk and not a ton of long interactions. The story started getting a bit repetitive with Sophie fearing getting close to Finn and his family, being hot and heavy with him, and then proclaiming she must stay away.

And he wanted to eat ice cream in bed with her. He wanted to read out loud to her. In bed. And he wanted to talk dirty to her. In bed. In the shower. In the kitchen. In his truck. There were so many dirty things he wanted to say to her, do to her, hear from her./i>

After our leads sweet, lively, and down and dirty beginning, I was little disappointed in the second half not providing some more depth to their relationship. A vast majority of the scenes take place in the theater, Sophie doesn't spend any time with her friends, and not a ton of scenes of Finn and Sophie interacting with the large amount of secondary characters. For the big role Finn's mom plays in the story she actually stayed a bit too much to the sidelines along with Finn's brother and partner. Having Sophie and Finn's friends and family stay to the side too much gives the story a lack of depth that small town (this actually takes place in Boston but there is clearly a community of people that the author is focusing on to provide a small town feeling) contemporary romance is known and loved for.

Sophie's father provided a good antagonist to keep our leads from an easy happily ever after but for the most part this story was pretty heavy angst free. This was a sweet story that wasn't afraid to also get down and dirty. I greatly enjoyed visiting the Kelly family starring Finn and will look forward to his firefighter brother Colin hopefully getting top billing next time.

4.5 stars -- I received a free copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review/opinion.

This was a fabulous conclusion to what was a really witty, engaging, and fun series.  And no, you most certainly do not need to read the other books in the series to enjoy this story, but if you find yourself enjoying this one, trust me, the rest are just as engaging.  And what's great is that each hero and heroine are SO DIFFERENT, but equally lovable.

My heart broke for Sophie, and how she grew up, and what she saw for her future because of her conman father.  And while sometimes it felt like her growth took a bit longer than I'd like, I did like watching her find her happiness, find her big family, and truly find love.  It was very rewarding.  And I loved seeing how she interacted with big groups, whether it was watching her direct in the theatre, or direct the Kelly family during trivia.  She entertained me.

And Finn was pretty adorable.  I really loved having a hero who was a cop who was quite honestly very different from the usual cop heroes you read so often.  He was protective, he had a very strong sense of right and wrong, but he loved so strongly.  He wasn't seriously damaged or anything.  I'm not saying he didn't have flaws, but you got to see him try to work through those himself.  And I just absolutely adored seeing him pursue Sophie when he decided she was the one for him, and she was worth risking broken hearts for (not just his, but his family's).

And Sophie and Finn had fabulous chemistry...you really felt their draw to each other.  I loved the way they bantered and interacted.  They complimented each other well.

Finn's family was hilarious and adorable.  I loved what they brought to the story, and how Finn's Mom was an integral part of Sophie's growth.  I wasn't sure how I would feel about Frank, but I was satisfied how that played out.  And obviously the glimpses of Keira, Zach, Maya, and Alex were fantastic.  Actually, I wouldn't have minded more...

So yeah.  Fun and flirty, with some feels and a super satisfying ending.

Sophie Birch grew up with a father who was a con man (what is the deal with romance heroine's named Sophie always having con men fathers?). Obviously, this has made her fairly wary of relationships in her adult life, even with her roommates (the heroines of the first two books in this series). Except... it's different with Angela. Sophie sees her as a sort of surrogate mother. And that's the reason she tries to run back into her burning theater; to save the only copy of Angela's play. Too bad some dude keeps trying to rescue her.
Finn Kelly is trying to keep a crazy lady from running into a building but can still take the time to appreciate how hot she looks in the lingerie she's wearing. He can tell she's not the sort of woman who's going to fit into his life but he is drawn to her anyway. Even after meeting her father (this cop can tell when he's being played), he wants to know more and more about her.
This was a typical Nicholas book that I think regular readers will enjoy. I got SO annoyed with both Sophie and Finn though. Finn seemed to have a hero complex that was unwarranted and Sophie was so wishy-washy.

Finn Kelly is the officer who comes to the rescue of Sophie Birch when her beloved playhouse catches on fire. She's feisty and stubborn, but meets her match in the Irishman. The dynamic between the main characters is refreshing and wildly entertaining. I love the Opposites Attract series so far, and this is the best one in the series so far! I received an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley and this is my honest review.
