A sweet story about how rad it would be to destroy your enemies because secretly you are a ridiculously wealthy princess. There were some bits about being a good person too, but I particularly liked the getting the last laugh part.

Sarah Crewe is a wealthy girl. She was born in India and her father takes her to London to boarding school while he goes back to India to work. Almost immediately the other girls at school and the headmistress, Miss Minchin, don't like Sara. They think she is spoiled and has too many material items. But Sara is a delight! She is nice and really smart but Miss Minchin still doesn't like her, but because she is wealthy, continues to make sure Sara is comfortable there. But when tragedy hits Sara's life and she has not even a penny to her name, Miss Minchin wants to send her to the streets. But knowing that will look bad on her part, she decides to put Sara to work with helping with the errands. She forces her to live in the attic and most days she doesn't even get to eat. Just when she's getting so thin and can think of nothing else but filling her belly, a 'friend' comes to her rescue.

The story of Sara Crewe is one that is new to me and I just adored it. Sarah is just the sweetest girl and she doesn't let anyone bring her down. She goes from a life of wealth to a pauper and even the evil Miss Minchin won't make Sara cry. When we hear the news of Sara's father, I was just devastated. And when we find out that she is forced to live in the attic with the maid, it makes me dislike Miss Minchin so much more. Which I thought I'd already disliked her a good bit. But Sara remains strong and does as she's told. Some might say is unrealistic of how well she keeps her head up but we have to remember that Sara is a sweetheart and so unlike any other child that I have read about. The other girls at her boarding school are cruel and mean for no reason other than being hateful. Sara is nothing but nice to them but she is very smart and way ahead in her studies that the other girls are probably just jealous.

Sara also has a very vivid imagination. She likes to imagine and pretend different scenarios. Some of the other students find her odd but Sara enjoys herself and the one friend she makes, Ermengarde, just loves Sara and her stories. I loved this story and I'm excited to watch the movie, since I had never heard of this book, I didn't even know there was a movie. Highly recommend!
