Exciting and twisty. A pre-Cold War spy adventure with family drama thrown in.
My favorite thing about Williams's books is her voice; it sparkles through each character and each character is completely distinctive. But in Our Woman in Moscow, I have to also comment on the tight and masterful plotting and pacing of that plot. There were a few twists in the last quarter or so that I wasn't expecting, too...which meant I just kept turning the pages. I've read a few of her books now, but this one is my current favorite and Williams is cementing her spot in my autobuy list.
The story of two sisters estranged and reconnected through a creative rescue is perhaps a little too on the nose for historical fiction in Cold War/post WWII era...but I still really liked it! Iris and Ruth's stories are told from each sister's perspective in a past-then present day timeline that was both intriguing and a little hard to follow at times for me. Sumner Fox is by far the best character in this book and his spy tactics add to the thrilling questions as you read. I kept wondering, how will it end?? Also, I read this on the plane and highly recommend this novel for travel. 4/5 stars.
Fun spy thriller. I guessed part of the ending, but that didn't diminish my entertainment while reading.

historical fiction about the Cambridge Five and other Soviet spies during the Cold War which I did not realize until the note at the end; perhaps best read with fewer interruptions or fewer events and people felt a bit overwhelmed by the story.
What a great historical fiction book. I was caught up in the story from the very beginning. I read the author's notes after I finished the book. I was completely unaware of the Cambridge circle; I guess I grew up on the wrong side of the pond.
Ms Williams spins a great story and finished the story with the right characters presumably living happily ever after.
