Started out good but after around 60% I just wasn't able to keep myself hooked on to the story.

"He's a jerk, she's his doormat and I hated it!"
No, no, a thousand times no. I finished reading this book holding on to hope that Bobbi would stand up to Gabe but it really never happened. Gabe and Bobbi are best friends. Bobbi has been in love with Gabe for years. Bobbi gets drunk at a party and kissed and touched him as only a lover would. The morning after she is ashamed and prays that her friendship with Gabe hasn't been damaged. Of course, Gabe started lusting after his best friend and couldn't get her out of his mind.
What's his solution? "Hey Bobbi, why don't we have sex whenever we have the itch, tell no one about it, get it out of our system and once we're done we can go back to being friends?" Bobbi is heartbroken, Gabe is not in love with her but at least wants to have sex with her. What's a girl to do? Well, if you have no self-esteem at all, are a coward and thinks settling is better than nothing, you'd become Gabe's lover and best kept secret.
Fourteen chapters of Bobbi content with crumbs while Gabe behaved like a monumental jerk. He would hurt her over and over again with his comments, his dismissive attitude about her job and appearance and Bobbi just took it while making herself available.
If Bobbi had thought first, Gabe isn't her best friend, he thinks of her as a tomboy, doesn't like the fact that she is a mechanic and cares only about his needs; second, if she had slapped him hard and heartbroken as she was moved on with her life and showed Gabe what he was missing, I would have respect for her."He is so gorgeous, I'm nothing like the women he dates and I love him and this is my only chance to at least have sex with him until he gets bored. I will treasure the memories forever!" I disliked her so much!
And Gabe, what an @#$!, what a selfish, immature piece of s@#$! The CEO of a company worth million of dollars and he writes childish poems and sends hundreds of flowers after he shattered Bobbi's heart? Obviously he sucks at being a real heroe. He missed the point, again.
One out of three, isn't so bad, I guess. I hope the next book takes away the bitter taste in my mouth after reading this one.
As for the narrator? Not the greatest, I still have to go back and listen again to a few phrases. Her accent is difficult to understand at times.

Hmm. If a guy tells you how to dress because tank top and shorts are indecent; go to a salon once in a while to get your hair styled; and all he wants is the fantastic sex you can offer, what do you do?
Oh yes. You take him back and give him a chance.
What?!
Well, this book just set back the feminist movement by 70 years. Give or take. Oh and the woman's chosen career as an auto shop owner does not make up for everything that's wrong with how low Roberta values herself as a woman.
Once in a while, I have this need to read a romance book. And considering how much I sort of, kind of enjoyed [b:The Unwanted Wife|16056862|The Unwanted Wife (Unwanted, #1)|Natasha Anders|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1349084566s/16056862.jpg|21842751] by the same author, I thought I'd check out the rest of her series.
Ugh.

My least favorite I think of all three books. I just didn't care too much for Gabe. I also think this story needed something more for me to believe they ended up together.

So good!
There were some portions of this book that were slow but the rest were sooo good. I couldn’t put it down.

I think this may be the first friends to lovers book that I’ve finished from beginning to end without skimming. The way Natasha writes is so captivating.
I felt Bobbi’s pain and hurt while she watched Gabe give everyone focus except for her. My stomach dropped when he explained they were not about to start dating but made her feel like their attraction to each other was something to be hidden and shame filled.
And I enjoyed every time he brother put him in his place and everytime Bobbi let him know she deserved better. I could feel my own strength grow alongside Bobbi’s, that how great the writing was.
