DID NOT FINISH

This was fun! I've never read a typical cozy mystery before and I did enjoy reading this. The last two chapters went from 0 to 100 so quick, I would've liked a little more build up.

Parts of this were intriguing, and I will read the second one in the series and then we shall see. Trigger Warnings for Diet Culture; and there was definitely some misogyny in the story. There were unanswered questions about some of the things that happened on the way to the ending. I did like the detective, even though the author was not highly flattering to her.

Cute. Good protagonist and supporting characters and great cat.

Yuck. Racist undertones.

Nice, easy read that was interesting enough. I liked that it showed how biased we can be when trying to look for ‘clues’ and how the heart and fondness can cloud your judgement.

While very verbose and kind of dragging, the idea behind this cozy mystery has a lot of heart. If cat/library/murder mysteries are your thing, this would probably be the book for you.
