An interesting collection of stories /fix-up novel. (Not a term I'd heard before.)
I found myself reading every chapter as though it was a new narrator, like each story was told by a similar person somewhere else in the country where this is set. That helped me tie each part together. You're introduced to new characters and a different angle of the story line with every chapter. It's quite impressive to be able to write that without it being confusing. I found the world building and scene setting very enjoyable and I will read this again.

Strange but not as unnerving as I expected even though it relies on a quiet sense of dread. At times reminded me of "Us" but I struggled with the episodic plot even for such a short book.

"a sequence of unease" fuck dude it sure is. meandering yet precise, written in short, clipped sentences, this novella manages to induce a feeling of dread like very few other works i've read
