This was a delightful surprise.

The world was so interesting and I love a band of traveler’s. The dynamic between Rey and Silla was keeping me fed throughout the entire book.

The twist and turns kept me on my toes and some reveals were truly unexpected which is delicious for me. Went to multiple bookstores in order to hunt down the second one and now it is my possession and I can not wait to start.

Pretty standard fantasy plot - girl with secret past has her dad die and sets out along a road to the destination that will bring her safety. We even find out

she's a secret princess

was a fun twist, but I felt like the addiction aspects could've been explored further. Maybe in the next book. The relationships and betrayal were also interesting, and it'll be fun to see where those go.
A solid debut novel that has me ready to read the rest of the series when it comes out.

Ok, I wasn't sure what I was going to rate this book until I got to the last 50 pages.

I enjoyed the story and the relationships, the intrigue, and the twists and turns. I love getting to know the band of warriors and following Silla's journey.

I can't wait to get to book two and see which relationships blossom from here. I hope that book two follows Silla's character again.

The only reason this book wasn't a five-star was because it didn't keep me engaged. I was able to put it down and go to bed, which made it take longer for me to read. I'm not sure why it didn't have me in the grip that most awesome books do, but there was something about it that made it easier to put down than normal.
