THIS REVIEW IS FOR BOTH THE AUDIOBOOK AND EBOOK VERSIONS
Such an intriguing story and the narration was perfectly done. I enjoyed plot. Characters are very easy to enjoy. I recommend this book.

‘Whisper of Bones’ is the third instalment in the Widow’s Island series written by Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot. In order to understand the characters a bit better, you should definitely read the previous books in the series.
Sheriff’s deputy Tessa Black is called in when a body washes up on a state park beach off one of the smaller islands. She suspects the man was murdered and begins to investigate. As Tessa delves deeper into her, someone on Widow’s Island is determined to keep their secrets buried, whatever the cost.
This was a quick, romantic suspense read that I enjoyed. A good continuation to the novella series. 3.5 Stars from me.
** I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. ARC provided by NetGalley and the publisher**

break thru

I am thoroughly impressed with the developmental aspects this novella series has. The characters grow and adapt throughout each book and it’s astonishing to witness the strengthening of their stories. Having the in the moment story about the recent scandal in the islands keeps you hooked but I love how the author randomly throws in a hint about the past case they are working on. The hint in this book rocked me- I was so surprised!!

Okay, I have a bit of a problem and keep managing to read books out of order... I somehow managed to read this one first? Luckily, past events were pretty well explained, so I wasn't too lost and was still able to enjoy the book! I liked this take on ghosts helping solve crimes, I feel like there are a surprising number of books in this niche genre, and this book held its own ground. It ended with a nice hook, and I'm going to have to add the sequel to my ever growing list of books to read.
I took a star off, as it got pretty repetitive. I could fall asleep, and 45 minutes later, they would still be talking about the same thing. So much time spent talking about emotions... It just got a bit redundant. I still enjoyed the book, though!

This was a new series to me and while I wasn't quite sure how it would work with two different authors writing, I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed all four books that I've read in the series and I'm look forward to reading more. A bit of romance, combined with mystery, an interesting locale (I have a thing for island settings) and quirky characters make for a good read in my opinion.

Don’t listen to this

This narrator is seriously awful. She’s monotone when she shouldn’t be and always ends words like she’s asking a question. It’s weird. The story is okay. It seems very amateurish. I’ve read other books by this author, and I like them better, so I’m not sure why this series is a dud for me.

Great third novella, but not a favorite. I think it's because the shadow of Samantha hangs over these novellas and the clue we get in this one just feels really farfetched. I did like the murder mystery, but it just feels like everyone on Widow's Island is secretly a murderer at this point.

"Whisper of Bones" has Tessa investigating when a local contractor's body washes up. The man was hated by pretty much everyone which leaves a long list of suspects for Tessa and Logan to investigate. Tessa is also still dealing with her mother and is getting help by some of the local widows.

I liked Tessa (always super competent). I just don't buy her relationship with Logan. I also think Logan needs therapy. Heck so does Cate.

4 Stars!!

I'm really enjoying this series, I just wish they would do it as one big novel rather than these short instalments. As each book in this series is super short, I will leave a review on the last book.
