Murder solved in 89 pages. These novellas are such a quick read and packed with action.

I took a break from this series because the first two books were so underwhelming. This installment wasn’t much better. The suspense was decent. I was interested in the theory that the ex or current wife did it. The big reveal fell flat. The villain’s motive was kinda lame. The good thing about this book is that it renewed my interest in the background mystery of what happened to Tessa’s childhood friend. I’ll have to stick with the series to follow that storyline. I know to keep my expectations low based on how weak the first three books have been.

I love this series as it the books are a quick, easy read which continues to develop the characters with a ach new story!
I enjoyed this installment the most out of all the Widow’s Island series so far. Some problems from the previous novellas are gone as the story is tightened up and most threads are given the attention they deserves, with the possible exception of the series’ overarching mystery, the disappearance of Tessa and Kate’s childhood friend Samantha. The authors do, however, rely a little too much on the same tropes and plot points in each book: Jane’s cinnamon rolls show up in almost every scene and solve every problem, and in every book so far, the perp has tried to destroy evidence by setting a fire. I’m hoping book four will leaves these devices behind.
