Some of the dialogue was pretty bad, especially in the beginning, but overall it was a cute quick story. If I can find the rest of the series at the library, I'll keep reading.

I really enjoyed this, it had a Laurell K Hamilton feel about it, which I absolutely love.

Samantha Moon is a great character, and I love that she struggles with her vampirism. It makes her more relatable and real.

I'm intrigued as to who Fang is, whether our hunter comes back, and what will happen with Kingsley as well as Sherbet.

Will definitely continue reading.

Samantha Moon's life is anything but simple. She juggles her job working as a private investigator, a failing marriage and two rambunctious kids. And she's a vampire. When she is hired by a hot shot lawyer to find the person who tried to kill him she unwittingly finds herself in the crosshairs.

And adding to her troubles, there is a vampire hunter gunning for her, her husband is having an affair, and she is fighting her own attraction to the hotshot lawyer.

Moon Dance reminds me more than just a little of Mark Henwick's Bite Back series, both are hybrids of those great noir hard boiled detective stories of the 1940s and vampire stories. I think Mark Henwick's books are a little more polished but that's not to take anything away form Moon Dance, it really is a lot of fun.

I recently finished the book Moon Dance. This book is written by J.R. Rain. It is the first book in the Vampire For Hire series. It takes place in and near Orange County, California.

This book is about a woman who is happily married with two children who she adores with all her heart. Through an accident that happens to her, she becomes a vampire. She loses her job and her normal life. She goes into her own private practice as a private investigator so she can make her own hours to work with her new biological schedule. In Moon Dance, she helps a lawyer find out who shot him five times in broad daylight.

Personally, I enjoyed this book for its storyline. However, I don't think that everybody will share my sentiments on this. for one, there are a lot of points in the book that force you to draw your own conclusions and assumptions. Personally, I enjoy books like these. Secondly, there are many instances where very advanced vocabulary is used. I see this as a plus personally, but many wont. Lastly, there are many things that are brought up that I felt should of been described in better detail. Nonetheless, I still found this book to be highly enjoyable. I would highly recommend it to anybody who asks my opinion.

Samantha Moon was attacked by a vampire and instead of dying she becomes one too. She has become a private investigator trying to still live a semi normal life raising her kids and trying to solve crimes. Kingsley Fulcrum contacts her to investigate his attempted murder case and find the shooter. Only she's also interested in Kingsley for other reasons besides his miraculous shooting recovery, he's keeping secrets of his own and he appears to be something else entirely. With her personal life gone to hell, trying to figure out her vampire nature and solving a crime it might prove to be to much for her. Only she's determined to solve this mystery and apprehend the shooter.

This was a good read with a main character that is relatable. Samantha is dealing with day to day life issues, kids, marriage and a job plus her vampirism. She has a quirky charm, she's funny and fiesty. Then we have a sexy lawyer with a mystery to solve and you have an entertaining story. The book has action, mystery, humor and romance that just captivates you. I did have a few things that i didn't like for example some of the text seemed repetitive or recycled, like the little details of how heightened her vision is and her thoughts in regards to herself. There's also the baseball game she's recounting in between thoughts that I feel the story could have done without. They just seem out of place, just to fill in the story. Overall i did enjoy the book, it was a easy and fun read that i do recommend. I will be looking into the following books in the series.

Easy, mostly fun read. I had some issues with the hetero nonsense with the writing of the main character - mainly she’s attracted to EVERY man in the book (pretty much, she even thought her would be rapist was cute- GTFOH), regardless of age, weight, marital status or intention. Also, every woman was blonde and cute with fake boobs. I was seriously questioning myself about reading this to find out the author is a man. Figures.

I almost feel that second star was a bit generous, but then I suppose I'd be lying about the few bits of this one that did keep me going. By the last chapter/section/portion (seriously the formatting was a bit bizarre), I found myself wondering out loud why I was still reading. I was willing to go with the Vampire PI angle. Heck, even willing to go with the soccer mom angle. But, something in the execution had me feeling like I was reading a soap opera with a "paranormal" flavour. Only picked it up because it was a freebie... Could honestly say I'd only pick up future instalments for the same reason.

Lotta male gaze but from a woman, but it was a fun romp

I didn’t go into this book with any expectations and, for the most part, I did enjoy the book. It was a quick and engaging read, even if it was very surface level engaging.

I did not like Sam’s husband and the way he treated her. I felt that her relationship with Kingsley was random and that it was created to say that she had moved on. Honestly, the most intriguing man in her life is Fang and she hasn’t even met him.

Romance aspect aside, I liked the mystery in this book. I like seeing Sam taking charge with her life and doing worthwhile things. I would love more backstory on her and her life but I have a feeling that will occur in later books.

I got this book free from Amazon and I thought it was super cute. I love the whole part about her being a mom and not really thinking that if she was a vampire that she would meet other super natural beings. I think that I am going to get the next book in the series to read.
