Metamorphosis: A fantastically tortured story with an exploration of familial obligations.

Penal colony: Descriptively disturbing. Exploring justice, the death penalty & fervent belief in one’s ideals.

The Judgment: My least favourite story of the three just because I didn’t connect to it or follow it with as much ease as the others.

  • Ret vildt perspektiv med at han vitterligt vågner op som et kryb og det første han bekymre sig om er om han kan nå på arbejde
  • Det sådan lidt som om at uanset hvad han gjorde ville han aldrig kunne leve op til forældrenes og især faderens forventninger og dermed kunne han ligeså godt være et kryb
  • Distancering af sit eget liv
  • Tabet af sin identitet

Reread in 2025: I misunderstood a lot of this when I read it as a teenager and the subtleties of it hit me way harder as an adult. The sister’s story is so tragic in particular
