This is a classic for any age imo, realistic, tragic, sarcastic, entertaining. Hope this isn’t what we’re in for!
I admit, to you the goodreads world, and you alone, that I had never before read The Handmaid's Tale, despite teaching multiple semesters of "Women's Literature" and "Feminist Lit" and and and. I was getting nervous someone was getting ready to yank my feminist card from me, so I read it. And it is a very affecting book- a good read. But slow, and I felt like I was slogging at times. It's scary, precisely because it feels just close enough to a potential reality, but not gripping.
