Growing up, my father had a great admiration for Rudyard Kipling. He seemed to use Kipling as a role model for raising a child. He would quote "IF" and "Kim" sing the music from "the man how would be king". But the man focus was always the man cub. The Jungle Book was a constant in my childhood. Not the disney version, but the story that had tooth. I had lost that story as i grow, it being eeplace by the many retelling. I lost it until know The Graveyard Book" brought it all make the feeling and the ideas of the original in the most different location and character imaginable. This is the Jungle book in the same way "oh brother where art thou" is the odyssey. The best possible retelling I could imagine.
Love the concept. However, I feel the actual novel would be better and I am not a fan of this style of graphic novel. So it just wasn't meant to be.

Extremely well done graphic novel adaptation of Gaiman's book by one of my all-time favourite comics artists, P. Craig Russell. Review forthcoming in Viewpoint.
