I was looking for a quick read and stumbled upon Vol 1 of the graphic novel version of The Graveyard Book. I had listened to and enjoyed the audio book awhile back. The graphic novel version is well handled and it’s fun to see the artists’ rendering of the characters and action. Vol 2 is available as well so I’m planning to keep reading.

4/5 Stars

It was fun to see one of my favorite books come alive (haha) in this graphic novel.
The artwork was amazing. Nearly everything was exactly the way I imagined it while I read The Graveyard Book years ago, especially Silas.

I would recommend this if you liked the original book and like graphic novels.

I try so hard to love Graphic Novels, and it is such a struggle for me. I mean, I don't not like them, I just don't really enjoy them. I feel like that makes no sense. But there it is. I loved the Graveyard Book (the novel) and this adaptation looked so intriguing. I liked how each chapter was illustrated by a different author, so I couldn't wait to read it. And...it was okay, but I just didn't love it as much as I wanted to. However, it was nice to revisit the story.

A wonderful version of a wonderful book. Silas looks just as I imagined him.

I love how most of the illustrations match how I visualized this world when I first read the book and I also love how seamlessly the different art styles of each chapter work together (maybe it’s because I read them separately, but I didn’t even notice they’re by different artists until I read the credits).
Can’t wait to read the next volume!!

So I started The Graveyard Book but never finished it a while back, and the beginning of this volume was familiar. The opening scene was, well, graphic...in the graphic novel where in the novel I seem to remember it being obvious what had happened but it wasn’t particularly gruesome or graphic. Beyond that a lot was familiar, and I overall enjoyed it fine while I was reading. I am interested to read the other volume and find out what happens.

This was really fun!
