Never read the book, but this was okay. The art was nice, but not great....story is a little vague and I'm not 100% sure what's going on.

The dead should have charity.

OH MAN! I loved this so much! I couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting. I immediately picked up Volume 2 as soon as I finished.

I read Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book back when it was first published in 2007. I loved it! It was dark and creepy and just lovely. Bod was endearing and curious. He quickly became one of my favorite characters as well as the rest of the residents of the Graveyard. The Owenses and Silas and Liza have stuck with me for years.

This new adaptation of his story through the beautiful illustrations brought me back to the Graveyard and made me smile. Volume 1 encompasses the story form Chapter One to the Interlude in the original book. This graphic novel is sure to enthrall readers of all ages and will introduce many new readers to this wonderful story by Gaiman.

The artwork is breathtaking and I couldn’t stop looking at it. After I finished, I went back and flipped through it just to admire the illustrations again. Each chapter is illustrated by a different artist. How cool is that? I really loved this aspect of the graphic novel! The ghosts are creative and individually unique from Roman figures to Victorian. I especially enjoyed the Indigo Man. The art flowed from each artist and worked well rather than being a distraction from the plot. It made for an interesting graphic novel full of beautiful artwork.

adventurous dark medium-paced

I liked the story, so far. Not certain how I feel about the graphic novel format.

I haven't read the actual novel yet, but this graphic novel arrived recently at my library and I couldn't resist.
It has been illustrated by several artists, some I really liked, a few I didn't, but overall I just loved it. After his family has been murdered, a child is raised in a graveyard by his ghostly occupants who teach him about life. His newfound parents treat him like one of their own, and the mysterious Silas is here to keep an eye on him whenever Bod gets himself into a difficult situation, or just needs some answers. Meanwhile, his parent's assassin is still after him for a reason we don't know about yet,
Bod's adventures are entertaining, Gaiman casts a tender eye on the childhood of this curious boy dealing with all kinds of paranormal beings - and others not so paranormal ! I can't wait to read the rest before I grab the book, it was excellent !

I liked this a lot. It's no mystery that Gaiman is a great writer, and I mostly liked that in this Graphic Novel adaptation that each chapter's art was done by someone else. There was one juncture where it was a little jarring, but for the most part it was well done. Guess I'm going to have to get Vol II to find out what happens next, cause naturally I've never read the original material.

Puto Gaiman, qué cabeza que tiene el jodío para la fantasía... <3

Except for how rude they were to Silas' portrayal (he's not Dracula, nor are all vampires like Dracula so please don't draw him like Dracula . . .) this was a rather decent adaption of the novel and I really enjoyed most of the artwork.
