I'm not really sure why it took me so long to read this. At least to me the first 50 or so pages were pretty dry and boring but it did get better. Looking forward to finishing volume 2 soon. Might consider reading just the print version and even the listening to the audiobook later on.

The Graveyard Book Graphic Novel, Vol. 1 (My Kindle Review)

Russell’s graphic novel adaptation of Gaiman’s YA novel, which centers on a boy who is saved by the ghosts of a graveyard and is curious about the living world, is an incredibly done one that manages to capture the story’s ghoulish essence through its art and narrative. Part one is a great read, I wonder how part two will be. A (100%/Outstanding)

Really enjoyed myself with this graphic novel!! The art was very beautiful, and I loved how each part was illustrated by a different illustrator. Some weren't my favorite, but I'll admit that all showed very great talent.
adventurous dark fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Loveable characters: Yes

no one does creepy oddities in storytelling quite like Neil. interested to see how this comes together in volume 2

A fantastic read for adults and children alike. Gaiman takes the story of the jungle book and re-imagines it into a macabre tale of murders, ghouls and supernatural happenings. Most of the story is seen through the eyes of Nobody 'Bod' Owens, our young protagonist who grows up in a graveyard filled with ghosts and their various interesting personalities. But Bod is soon to learn that growing up with the dead isn't nearly as dangerous as the world that lurks outside the graveyard gates. I couldn't put this book down after I started reading!

Very cool. I read the audiobook a while ago. I loved listening to Dance of the Macabre and reading the comic.

I read somewhere (Wikipedia?) that this story is supposed to be a modern, scary take on the Jungle Book, but set in the Graveyard. Sadly, I've never read the inspiration, but this was fantastic.

Bod is a very good boy. He could verge on boring, but didn't. But I wish that it didn't end the way it did. I wish Scarlet didn't have to be so scared and to decide that she didn't want to remember Bod. I suppose it's a little subversive to have the damsel in distress be disgusted at the way she was rescued. But instead, I wanted for her and Bod to become better friends, and have a chance to share their lives in a more substantial way, and not just as plot point.

Otherwise, delightful as always. It is always a good choice to listen to Neil Gaiman read his own books. Such a treat.

I’ve read the literary version, so I thought I’d give the graphic novel a try. It was nice to visit Bod and Silas again.

Listening to this book is like watching a play, but in your ears. The full cast of characters was amazing and I’ll love Neil Gaiman forever.
