"What did you say the title was?" asked the bookstore clerk over the phone. "Dragon Justice? Oh, is that the bright pink one with the sparkles?"

"Yes," I said in a grand and dignified manner, because I am a suave and sophisticated young professional.

Gilman continues to build a fun and interesting world, and anyone who followed her previous series will enjoy the more-than-cameo appearance of Wren and Sergei in this latest installment. Some of the self-reflection gets a little repetitive, and there is perhaps less focus on the mystery than there has been in previous books, but anyone who enjoyed the precursors is likely to enjoy this book as well. I laughed incessantly and had an excellent time.

I think I'm done with this series. The plot unspools so slowly... I enjoyed the earlier books in the series, and the Retriever series was also enjoyable. I just can't with this anymore.

It was a good book. Solid addition to the series. I loved the ending and while the romance is very light in this book i think it was done well. Although not without it's sad parts I really hope that this book is not the last in the series.

Don't get me wrong - this was a very fun read. Lots of intrigue going on, very well told, excellent pace. Despite all that, I was disappointed, because of the way Bonnie and Ben's getting together was handled.

I mean, come on. We've been waiting for this for so long, and then there aren't any DETAILS? It doesn't even have to be that graphic. I like explicit sex scenes in books, but if that's not what's called for, then fine, by all means, make it less explicit. But this? No. Just plain disappointing. Not only do I not need to know about one of the protagonist's stale breath, but where's the chemistry? The build-up that at long last gets acted upon, the sizzle? Or at the very least a description of what it does to the Merge? Ben's point of view, Bonnie's point of view? It just wasn't there. At all. And that is a damn shame, because it took away my enjoyment from the rest of the book.

P.S. I read the advance ebook edition.

WE KNEW THE JOB WAS IMPOSSIBLE WHEN WE TOOK IT...

In my time with PUPI, formally known as Private, Unaffiliated Paranormal Investigations, I’ve seen a lot. Learned a lot. And not all of it’s been good. But what we do—make people accountable for crimes committed with magic—is important work.

Still. Even I need to take a break every now and again. Or so I’ve just been told (ordered).

So hey, vacation. Maybe I’ll finally figure out what’s going on with the “special bond” between me and the bossman, Benjamin Venec. Venec seems to like that idea—he’s invited me down to join him on a jaunt to Philly. But no sooner do I arrive in the City of Brotherly Love than we’re called in to look at a dead body.

And that’s when life gets really complicated....

* * * * *

I love Bonita 'Bonnie' Torres. She doesn't have a lot of diplomacy but that means that you know exactly where you stand with her. She straddles the line between being Council and being a lonejack as well as being a pup. She is also a perfectionist and will do almost anything to get the job done.

DRAGON JUSTICE is what I can brain candy. It is the perfect book to curl up with and let the storytelling carry you away. It is well written and there is nothing, well except for the need to sleep, that pulls you away from the world Ms.Gilman has created.

The characters, most of who you meet in earlier books, are well developed. I was very happy to see that Bonnie and Ben are finally starting to pay attention to the huge white elephant that's in the room with them and discovering that it does have its good sides. We are also given more glimpses of what causes the other Pups to tick. Some of them would be very mentors when the time comes.

The case that comes up when Bonnie tries to take a vacation is deeper and darker then the PUPI norm yet watching the pack work together is a true joy. And it keeps the readers on their toes as they discover more information.

DRAGON JUSTICE is a great addition to the Paranormal Scene Investigation series and I can hardly wait to see what the next book holds. I recommend this book to any readers who enjoy urban fantasy.

I rate this book a 3.75.

*** I did receive this book from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. No money exchanged hands and all opinions are my own.

I haven't written a review of this series as I read it and I'm still no further advanced in my thinking.

I like the books individually but it doesn't feel as though the characters really advance in the stories, even Bonnie the heroine doesn't really become any clearer. I have a suspicion that this is a spin off of the Retrievers series and if I read that all will become clear - but maybe not.

As always, the plot seems a little unclear to me - too little is explained to the lay reader who might not be as quick witted as Bonnie and the team. The motivations also seem opaque - why is Aden so at odds with Ian? What is she trying to achieve?

This seems as though it was the last in the series and it feels incomplete.

Overall, I enjoyed the individual books but I felt they didn't achieve their potential - I felt there was a bigger, deeper story either being missed or that I didn't see properly. The books are expensive and I'm not sure I want to invest that much money in buying the Retrievers books to find out whether there was more going on.
