Christ this book depressed me. There is something about the way Elizabeth Flocks writes that I really enjoy...although I find her books incredibly depressing...I just keep reading.

I made the mistake of bringing this book on vacation with me, I would advise against that for anyone else that might read this book.

I liked this book, it was very painful to read what this little girl withstood. But I felt the ending was too abrupt. It was still a very compelling read.

I started reading this book on 07/07/2009. I finished this book on 07/12/2009.

This book was kind of weird for me. I didn't really get into it till about 100 pages in. I usually don't give a book that long but I did this one. The twist that was close to the end was kind of crazy but in a good way. Overall I rated this book a 2 star.

I totally didn't see this twist coming at the end. Great book.

Incredibly sad!!!

BUT- interesting read.

I again don't remember who recommended this book, but it wasn't what I expected. The book is narrated by Caroline, and eight year old girl. She and her younger sister Emma are working through their fathers death and mothers remarriage. I think the book did a really good job being told from the point of view of an eight year old. A lot of disturbing stuff was also in the book, it made me think about how helpless children can be and how badly they need to be advocated for. I was surprised at the end, I wasn't reading deeply into the book, and now I am thinking back to see what clues were there to indicate what eventually happened.
dark tense

Heartbraking story, especially since it's read from Carrie's point of view. The end was so unexpected!
