I waited too long to read this finale and lost all emotional connection to the story. Plus I should have guessed that a Romeo and Juliet quote at the beginning would foretell a tragic love story ending
Oh boy do I have thoughts on this book, but I can't say much of anything I want to say because of spoilers so this is going to be pretty vague. I buddy read this entire series with Ali. I gave all of the books a 3-3.5-star rating. They weren't my favorite, but they were ok, and I was able to get through them. I had fun being able to read and discuss/rant about them with Ali but I'm sad to say this is probably one of my least favorite series overall and this final book was the worst book in this series. In book 3 some of the characters started acting out of character. It was like they had completely different personalities and it just got worse in this book. Like the decisions some of these characters were making had me so angry I wanted to throw my book. Then the ending. OMG don't get me started on the ending. That was not satisfying in the least. It hurt it pissed me off and it just made me hate the series even more.
This book had 2 things going for it. The amount of anger and hatred it made me feel is one. I have to give it something for making me feel this amount of angry. I was so angry I was kind of teary eyed. The other thing was Arjun's chapters and just Arjun in general. He's the only one that never changed. He was always his amazing self from book 1 to this book. I have so many more thoughts when it comes to Arjun and that ending but I can't say them so I will just end it with... WHY????

This series didn't end the way I expected, but in a good way. It was more realistic, and I respect it. There were some interesting twists. It feels like there should be a novella to close everything out though. There were a few loose ends I wanted to see resolved on the page.

I really really disliked this book. I should have dnfed it.
It felt so different from what we was introduced and I was enjoying at the beginning of the series. Unfortunately by the end I disliked most characters, I felt like we had rehashed so many scenes from the previous book especially with certain characters and we had given up on the historic New Orleans scene that first pulled me into the book. By the end it felt like it has lost all its character, and the plot felt generic, like a first draft of an unknown fantasy book. Nothing really stood out and it was going through the motions and churning out something to sell.
By the end of the series characters were unrecognisable, deaths felt completely meaningless and out of place, and I will never get my time back.
